Riverside High School sits with a 10-1 record after just upsetting the #1 team within the 2A Class a few days ago. The reason for all their success? A deep roster with size, skill, and a uniform playing system. Their main hooper is C/PF – Sydney Somers Sydney Somers 5'10" | PF Riverside | 2027 IA . Somers is a handful to defend to say the least. She has good height at 6’0 and a calculated aggressive behavior on both offense and defense. The reality is that most oppositions don’t have the height or the depth to handle the Somers or the entire Riverside lineup. Which is why Riverside is a team to note moving into Post season action this season. They have all the pieces to produce and win against anyone on any given night.

Riverside High School secured their third victory of the season last night with a 31 win over IKM-Manning High School at home. The leader in this one for the Bulldogs was PF – Sydney Somers Sydney Somers 5'10" | PF Riverside | 2027 IA . Somers was just too much to handle for IKM. They couldn’t stick with her physicality under the hoop or her motor with the pace she was working at so she got a lot of touches near the bucket for easy looks because of that. When the dust settled and the final buzzer sounded, Somer had 23 points (8/11), 7 rebounds, 2 steals, & 2 blocks. This is an efficient stat-line that Somer should be proud of. If she competes and produces like this all Winter long, it’s going to be tough for regular season opponents to match their output.

Sydney Somers Sydney Somers 5'10" | PF Riverside | 2027 IA of Riverside High School has been her team’s main source of production throughout this Winter. With a 19-3 record, this group hasn’t taken many losses this season because of their “team” play. This is a unit that is letting in only 32 PPG, while they average around 51 themselves. With that being said, when they do need a bucket, they look at Somers near the hoop. Most of their action happens around the rim as they look for high percentage looks from the field. Something that opposing coaches can respect. Tonight they welcome in CAM for a contest that should be intriguing. I don’t see either team pulling away in a sense so if this came down to the last 2 minutes, I would not be surprised.
