In an evening contest Thursday, Taryn entered the game and got to work early. She scored seven points immediately, including two strong finishes inside and a trail 3-pointer that looked more than comfortable for her from the top of the key. I think the biggest thing for her this year is that she has formed her own identity and really embraced who she is as a player. She can be an imposing presence in the paint, plus she can use her skill at all three levels.

Taryn comes from a nice family lineage of Bryn Shoup-Hill (Illinois) and Kyra Hill (Ashland), as she tries to carve her own path to the next level. Taryn is strong, physical, and very assertive around the low block. She does a nice job of creating contact, holding her position, catching, and finishing at the basket. I also like her approach defensively, as she doesn’t like to let anyone come down the middle of the floor to score easily.
