Expert Analysis
Johnny Vick | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
A long, highly athletic small forward with exceptional bounce. An extremely active player without the ball, she consistently finds gaps in the defense to create scoring opportunities.
Offensively, she features a smooth mid-range jumper that makes her a good option in the high post. Her perimeter shot is reliable enough to keep defenders honest, preventing them from sagging off and opening driving lanes.
Her athleticism truly stands out on the defensive end. She has the versatility to guard both perimeter players and post threats, using her quickness and length against bigger opponents. A high-effort defender, she excels as a shot blocker with impressive timing and instincts.
An energetic, versatile forward whose motor and athletic ability allow her to impact the game on both ends of the floor.

Butler steps into a bigger role for the Lady Hornets, looking to add to their strong recent tradition. Athleticism is apparent with the way she plays the passing lanes and crashes the glass. Skies for contested rebounds. Good reads and unselfishness, especially in transition. Good touch in the 12-18 foot range with smooth jumpers. Perfectly complimenting her ability to glide to the rim with her graceful long strides.

Butler looked the part of one of the better athletes in Oklahoma’s junior class. Very fluid and coordinated when rising up or extending her long arms to swat shots. Which, she did multiple times throughout the game. Including a sweet “snatch block”, then she immediately looked to push the tempo. Was smooth and fast when running the floor in transition. Either getting to the rim or being a trailer and hitting from distance. Overall, was a very impressive in person viewing of a prospect who has made strong strides since the end of high school season.

Good athlete, who has had flashes of production in her first two years of varsity action. Can alter/block shots along the rim by using her height/long wingspan. While also capable of switching onto guards. Offensively, she is improving this spring as a shooter in the mid-range and from beyond the arc. Add in the ability to take defensive rebounds coast to coast, and there’s plenty of ways that Butler can impact the game. A busy spring should set the stage for the Lady Hornet to take her production to the next level as a junior.

Very promising 918 prospect. Highlight tape shows off her athleticism and aggressiveness nature on the glass and defensively. While also hitting in the mid-range and from beyond the arc. Defensively, she explodes off the floor for blocks, while also using great timing and long arms for steals and deflections. Covers ground with ease in transition with a gliding movement profile that makes it look easy. A newcomer to the Booker T Washington for her sophomore campaign, should make waves for one of the top girls teams in the state.

A big time athlete, who will be a priority to watch going forward as was only seen once during the past high school season. The one viewing did prove she has the traits to be a force on the defensive end, with flashes of offensive upside. Comes across as a current inside to midrange threat, with the ability to mature into a full blown perimeter weapon.

The freshman has good height and wingspan, which she puts to use with rebounding on both ends of the court and rim protection. But she’s more than just a high energy post player. She showed real promise for longterm potential growth in a few different areas. There’s promise as a connector as a passer with some of the assists she made out of the high post and even pushing it and leading a teammate in transiton with a textbook bounce pass. Butler finished with 12 points, which also included a top of the key three.

Tianna was an integral part of what the Sandites did defensively to slow down the Bulldogs and she played a wonderful game. The freshman stood out in her first high school game with some big time coaches in the house. Though she “only” scored one point from a free throw, the coaches and scouts know that she was just as valuable to the big picture as Wilson was. She racked up the rebounds and blocks with her long arms and outstanding hops. She played physically at both ends and absolutely disrupted the Memorial offense. They never got into a rhythm and Tianna was a big part of that. Butler is a big-time prospect and I am so excited to see her development over the next several years.
