Expert Analysis
Mikol Blake-Green | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Medina is a compelling point guard that offers creation for others while she is in attack mode. Medina has a shifty crossover that she uses to create separation from defenders. While playing with the Rivals over the live period, Tyanna doubled down on her game. She was getting paint touches while keeping her head up and looking to dish to her teammates. Medina can fill many roles in which a team may need. Overall, Tyanna is a truly underrated at her position and her game demands more recognition.

Tyanna Medina (2025) | 5’6 CG | Kimball Union
Tyanna flaunted her skills throughout the showcase. She’s a tough shifty guard that hounds and harasses players on defense. Tyanna’s game is tailored for highly competitive action. She was flying around the floor, making plays for her team nonstop. In halfcourt play, she loves to use a right to left crossover to get her into a rhythm. Medina can shoot the 3, but loves penetrating to get straight to the rim or getting to her midrange pull up game. Another nice attribute to her game is her pick & roll abilities. She snakes screens to find open lanes and become a playmaker underneath the 3-point line. Medina usually finds openings to hit her teammates in their spots. Medina is a dynamic passer when coming downhill. She makes flashy passes and bigs need to be prepared for a no-look or a quick dump-off pass in the short corner or block. Tyanna can also cause problems in the open floor as well because of her dynamic quickness. She plays with a certain level of flare and that striking blaze can seem to elevate her play at times. Medina is the type of player to put up a flurry of points in bunches. Defensively, Medina is seeking the action from all challenging guards. Shes gritty and steps up on the “iso island” when her number is called. She’s an interchangeable player on the perimeter. She can guard bigger wing prospects due to her quickness and uncanny vigor. Active hands and feet are the name of the game with Tyanna. Medina is also pretty vocal on the floor; she serves as a general on defense and that can fuel her an electricity on offense. Medina is without a doubt an underrated talent.

Tyanna has been on a tear these past couple of games, including a game-winning bucket for the Rivals vs Always 100! After an inbound play where her number was called, Tyanna drove hard to the basket going right for a couple dribbles and quickly pulls up with a slight lean to knock down the most clutch bucket you can ask for in the moment.
Tyanna has great vision and uses the pick and roll to her advantage, never forcing anything and making the right play. She can snake the screen and also probes in the lane to give herself some extra time. Medina is a slippery guard with bursts of speed that finds others and can make demanding shots and this just makes her a tough cover on any given night.
