Expert Analysis
Brandon Bradley | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Vanessa helped lead Lake Central to the State Finals this past year, and without several graduated 2024 guards, she’ll be leaned on even more to help the Indians succeed in 2024-2025. With her length, speed & quickness, and ability to break down defenses, that shouldn’t be a problem. She began to shoot the ball more consistently this past year as well, and she has always been a problem at the defensive end of the floor, creating turnovers. Vanessa recently made a verbal commitment to Albama A&M University.

Vanessa can really get after it, and unfortunately like so many guards from Indiana, she is under-recruited because of her size. If she was 5-8, she’d have a great deal more interest. She looks stronger and is playing stronger with the ball, she even looks more explosive North/South, though she has always been an extremely quick water-bug. She is taking care of it under pressure, knocking down open shots, and collapsing defenses to find teammates. Plus, with tremendous length at her height, she is creating a number of turnovers defensively.

Vanessa is another quick, fast, explosive water-bug type of point guard prospect. She is a capable scorer, but what she has done well this Spring is facilitate. She’s another guard who gets into gaps with ease, changes directions, and gets defenses off-balance. She does have some touch outside, and she can also really defend the ball, whether that’s in the halfcourt or at 84-feet.
