About Vivian

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

A solid defender who never stops fighting. Quick to cut off passing lanes and dive for a ball. Love to shoot outside the arc and at extended ranges. Getting after a rebound {or deflection} for effective defensive/offensive rebounding to create scoring opportunities. Good on-ball & off-ball defender. Active on the court/strong court IQ. Consistent learner, desire to grow & team player/leader.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Competitive by nature but far from selfish. Appreciate each persons contribution. Enjoy bringing positive energy on the court & sidelines. Make it a priority to build friendships/relationships with teammates & coaches. Disciplined, take responsibility to improve my skills, learn from mistakes/setbacks, push through challenges when things get difficult. Respect the game, officials & opponents.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Key Club, FCA, Young Life, Student Council, Athletes Mental Awareness (AMA), Class leader

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Focusing on strengths and maintaining confidence even in the wake of setbacks. Setting and being an example of positive sportsmanship in the highs and lows of the game. Always staying coachable. Showing up and never missing a practice, game or team event. Putting in the work whether it is practice, training or driveway. Volunteering for camps/practices. Class leader of student led AMA club.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have had 2 minor injuries to play through over the last few years. It helped me develop to come back stronger. I love the game & never had thoughts to quit. Three varsity coaches entering my 4th year has brought challenges to the program and talent, plus different coaching styles. I have learned to adapt quickly and own my growth and focus on what outcomes I can control.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college experience that values development of the player and person. I value a solid team unit where players can have relationships on and off the court. I also would like to continue supporting player mental health and whole-person clubs like FCA.

Lucy Beckham may be one of South Carolina’s newer schools, but Watts has wasted no time etching her name into Bengals record books. On Dec. 19, Lucy Beckham earned a 58-37 victory over a tough 4A out in Bishop England. Watts drained a grand total of seven 3-pointers to set a school record. The junior SC Sixers product is a two-sport athlete who also competes in volleyball alongside her basketball achievements. Watts has played at the varsity level since she was an eighth grader. In eight games this season, Watts has averaged 10.6 points and 2.3 steals per contest. The Bengals begin its region schedule this Friday against defending 5A Division 2 champion Berkeley.
