There’s not a player in this class that can go shot for shot with Walton, and that’s been proven over the past couple of years. With being the first high school player in Illinois history to receive and secure a NIL deal.. it puts a stamp on my statement seeing that the deal is with “Shoot-A-Way”. Northwestern has a ton of versatile guards, but they do not have a sniper like Walton. If her posititon is off the ball, she could break some records in her first year.

Walton on ball is a lot to deal with for any defender. Her handles, her confidence and the fact that she plays with more strength than her height shows. However next year Walton might play off the ball at Northwestern due to their 1/5 punch.. and that honestly might be more suitable for her, and will allow her to save more in the tank to knock down shots. Xamiya is a scorer but a hell of a shooter, arguably one of the best in the state. If she gets into a situation where her role is to catch and shoot.. she might be find herself in some top freshman lists.

A tough couple of games for an elite type of talent. However, even though the shots that she makes on a nightly basis weren’t falling, Walton still managed to put up a strong stat line. 13ppg was impressive, but its how she got them. Her normal chunk of points come from beyond the arc, but this series she was able to show her creativity to get to the rim. Xamiya has always been a three level threat, but she put an emphasis on that this weekend. The energy on the opposite side of the ball was apparent too. 5stls and 5.5rebs for the tourney. Walton is a special talent. 

Walton was electric at the Best of Michigan Holiday Classic. She was at her best when attacking the defense and making plays with the ball. Walton repeatedly put defenders on her hip, got to the lane or the rim, and drew fouls. She had a really pretty scoop and score in the 2nd half that was almost impossible to guard. Walton was big in big moments against Arbor Prep, like when she buried 2 free throws to up the lead to 7 points.

The #3 Ranked Player in Illinois’ Class of 2024, Walton is a lethal shooter from beyond the three-point line and can make opponents pay with poor closeouts. Xamiya’s “in-the-gym” range makes her a threat to score anytime she crosses half court, especially when you consider her ability to speed past defenders and consistently score in the lane among taller post players.

Easily one of the best players and shooters in the state regardless of position or class.. and taking the crown as the first Illinois High School PLAYER with a NIL deal (Shoot-A-Way) .. Walton is marksman from the arc, and has the craftiness and confidence to score on whoever. Top division colleges need to tune in, because the deep range ability will translate seamlessly at the next level.
