#24 up from #33 Schmidt showed she could flat out shoot the ball back in middle school because she was long and athletic and did a good job of creating her shot and getting it off. She got stronger, taller, and her “catch and shoot” and scoring off the dribble improved, plus she reached that magic number and next level coaches love big guards who can shoot, see evaluation here from Queen Of The South

Schmidt also falls into that “long and athletic” guard who can shoot it from, well anywhere yet that’s been a given since I first saw her 4 or 5 years ago. I loved how she mixed it up to score or dish off the dribble but her court vision across the board was solid. She also did a good job rebounding on both ends, getting good positioning helped

A talented shooting guard that has great size standing at 6’0. Her length shows on the perimeter on both ends of the court. Her versatility allows her to be that player that can play major minutes on the floor. She was able to create her own scoring opportunities off the dribble with good ball handling skills. On defense she is a plug and play player that can defend multiple positions.

Schmidt is “long and athletic” and can flat out drop it from just about anywhere. I’m enjoying her adding more of the “catch and shoot” with her release becoming quicker, she’s becoming harder to handle because she stands above “the magic number” and next level coaches LOVE big guards that can shoot. I think her attacking the basket and finishing after contact will add more to the attraction, so is her improved “on the ball” defense coupled with playing the passing lane

Schmidt is a D1 lock. Plain and simple. Not too many guards her age have her skill set to go along with her size. A lengthy guard that can shoot off the dribble with the best of them and in open catch and shoot situations, forget about it, its CASH. Can play the 1, 2, and 3 spots and will get the job done defensively no matter the task. I don’t throw this term around often, but Yas fits the “Swiss-Army Knife” term perfectly. She can do it all on the court and can hurt teams in a number of different ways. I’m sure it’s very discouraging for teams when Schmidt kills them with the long ball one game but will turn around in the next matchup and choose to make all her money in the paint. Very versatile baller that now holds multiple D1 offers. She has been to number of high level D1 elite camps and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if she’s able to land offers from some of the biggest programs in the country soon.

Playing up an age group, Yasmeen was as composed and aggressive as you can ask for. She makes her presence felt from behind the arc but has a natural feel playing off the dribble. Good size to guard all over the floor , her height gives her an advantage over smaller guards on both ends. She does well moving without the ball and coming off screams ready to be a threat. Bright future!
