Part 2 of the 3 part series has arrived. 6 more player evaluations on hoopers that might’ve been a bit under the radar at the beginning of the summer, but have since then, started to gain traction with college scouts. These players took full advantage of the 2023 AAU season with standout “live” period performances while also making HUGE strides in developing their game. They have set themselves up nicely in the recruiting world moving forward and should make plenty of noise for their respective school teams during the upcoming season. 2nd group of Stock Risers that caught my eye this summer, here we go!
A very crafty guard that can get the job done at both the 1 and 2 spots. Emma displays a great all-around game with a lot of swag thrown into the mix. Look-offs, head-fakes, behind the back passes, and a solid left hand, are all a part of her skill set. A hard-nosed guard that prides herself on getting to the cup and finishing in a number of different ways. Solid shooter if left open and her rip through game is on another level. Very shifty, constantly leaving defenders in the dust and is one of the best I’ve seen with the “dump-off” pass. Emma did not have much on her college interest plate at the beginning of summer play, but after a very fruitful AAU campaign she has received her first offer and is in talks with several colleges that are sure to take the next steps very soon.

Beya Chase
Beya Chase
Beya can flat out GO! A lefty with all the necessary skills a point guard needs AND more. Dynamite from downtown, with several games on her resume where she has erupted for 7 or more 3s. Definition of the term “hand down, man down” Do not leave this girl open. Has a killer step back to pair up with a nice euro step when needed. An absolute technician in the pick and roll game and can often times “drop” or break a defender’s ankles with her shifty play. Beya spent the summer playing in high level tournaments and attending multiple D1 elite camps. Keep an eye on this one because it shouldn’t take long for schools to jump on the opportunity to add this lefty to their roster.
Schmidt is a D1 lock. Plain and simple. Not too many guards her age have her skill set to go along with her size. A lengthy guard that can shoot off the dribble with the best of them and in open catch and shoot situations, forget about it, its CASH. Can play the 1, 2, and 3 spots and will get the job done defensively no matter the task. I don’t throw this term around often, but Yas fits the “Swiss-Army Knife” term perfectly. She can do it all on the court and can hurt teams in a number of different ways. I’m sure it’s very discouraging for teams when Schmidt kills them with the long ball one game but will turn around in the next matchup and choose to make all her money in the paint. Very versatile baller that now holds multiple D1 offers. She has been to number of high level D1 elite camps and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if she’s able to land offers from some of the biggest programs in the country soon.

Sarah Brown
Sarah Brown
Sarah Brown is an absolute BUCKET. One of the few girls I’ve seen go “Mamba Mode” in person. Her freshmen year I witnessed her drop a 30 piece nugget in a varsity tournament and her game has only matured since then. Has the ability to score at all three levels and is constantly manipulating defenders into tough situations. Has the rare ability to take over when she wants to and is almost a bet to fill up the stat sheet every single night. Leads her teams through her gameplay and has great full court vision. A 2026 product that has picked up her first offer and is sure to land more. She is an absolute gym rat that is constantly sharpening her skills with trainers and likes to spend time displaying her talents at collegiate camps. Mark my words, Brown’s recruiting floodgates will open soon, and when they do, anyone riding her wave will need a floatation device.
Taylor Ross Taylor Ross 6'0" | PF Brennan | 2024 State TX
Taylor Ross Taylor Ross 6'0" | PF Brennan | 2024 State TX
Ross is EXTREMLY athletic. I am not using that word lightly. She has an impressive wingspan to go with her above average leaping ability, giving her an almost unfair advantage when it comes to playing low post defense. Constantly swatting layup attempts away and igniting her team through tough, gritty play, Taylor has the size and mentality to be a baller at a very prestigious D1 program someday. Hard for defenders to deal with her on the offensive end due to her relentless style of play and has shown massive improvement in the catch and finish, pick and roll set up. Long strides help her get to the rim with ease and is athletic enough to finish in several different ways. Taylor is a staple for Brennan and is on D1 recruiting boards around the country. Currently holding a few D1 offers, Ross is expected to be highly sought after in the near future.
Sophia Zadel
Sophia Zadel
Sophie Zadel, a 6’3 PF/C that has everything you could ever ask for in a post player. Size, mobility, strength, IQ, soft touch, above average hand eye coordination, I could go on for days describing her attributes. An offensive rebounding specialist, she has nearly mastered the “put back” game and has a way of getting herself into rebounding position time and time again. Great back to the basket game, she has displayed a number of post moves in her bag. She also is very skilled when it comes to attracting double teams and kicking the ball out to teammates for great looks. Very mobile like mentioned before, Zadel is able to get out on the break and run her lane, leading to easy catch and finish buckets. Defensively she is very disciplined. Staying out of foul trouble and contesting shots without fouling are hard tasks for bigs most times, not for Soph. She had a great summer showing and is now holding multiple D1 offers. She is sure to continue racking in full rides as she continues to play and is expected to have a breakout year for Alamo Heights.
