Bret Swanson | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Cook is a player who still really needs to figure things out and understand where her talent can take her at times. Yasmine helped the Lady Knights get to the Class 5A State Championship this past season before falling to Mauldin. She really does a good job finishing with both hands at the rim.
Yasmine likes to really utilize a nice mid-range pull-up jumper. She always to seems to have good body control going to the cup. Cook has no problem jumping on the floor for the loose ball. She averaged 13.9 ppg, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 2 assists this past season. Yasmine best basketball is still in front of her down the road. She might need to entertain the junior college route.

Speaking of Lowcountry Premier products, that is where Cook spent her final travel season this past spring and summer. She has translated that into what has been, so far, an impressive senior campaign for both her and the 5A Knights. Cook has averaged 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in the eight games Stratford has played in thus far. As her statistics display, she is adept as a scorer and as a rebounder. Cook also excels as a pass deflector on defense with an ability to affect an opposing team’s passing lanes. She also plays unafraid to draw contact to get to the free throw line and is versatile where she can play either at the three or the four.

She will bring down a good number of rebounds as well as score her fair share of points. Cook brings versatility to any team as she can operate either as a forward or play minutes as a two guard. She plays the game on contact and can up her team’s offensive production from the free throw line. Cook will also come through as a defender with her ability to disrupt an opposing team’s passing lanes with deflected passes.
