Zoey Ward Zoey Ward 5'11" | CG Concord | 2023 State NC is another state champion on this list winning after an excellent season for Concord Academy.  She was certainly doing everything on the court making plays every time the ball was in her hands whether she attacked the basket or drew defenders away from her teammates for the dish.  She’s tough inside, too, going after rebounds on both ends, and her versatility allows her to show off some post moves on the block for points there as well.  She is already used to doing everything her team needs ready to take it to the next level.

Zoey Ward continues to show off her ability to drive hard to the basket setting herself up for some points using her size to battle in the paint.  She slid into the openings showing how she can score on the block.  She read her opponents well sliding in front of passes to take the other direction.

Zoey Ward was my player of the game in convincing fashion finishing with 28 points in her last game as a high school athlete.  She has continued her dominant season seeing the floor well finding the openings and attacking the basket.  She can go up against all five positions on the court using her strength to battle in the paint.  She was crashing boards grabbing rebounds leaving it all out on the court for her last game.  She has certainly showed that she is ready to play at the next level.

Zoey Ward showed her ability to score in the paint or make a smart dish to her teammate.  She had a nice backdoor cut grabbing the pass and putting it right up for her points.  She can get inside and show some up and under moves for points, or she can set herself up for some jumpers all over the court.  Her spin move on the block was difficult to stop.  Her ability to take over and attack the basket for an old fashioned three point play was crucial late in the fourth quarter.

Ward’s Eagles were involved in what was unarguably the game of the day among the four girls contests that took place on Tuesday. Concord Academy was on the receiving end of a 58-50 decision to Heathwood Hall, but Ward had a stellar outing with a 20-point performance. She stands at an even six feet and is listed as a shooting guard and small forward but has the ability to also make plays deep in the painted area. Ward will also try a few 3-point attempts and can absorb contact which will give her opportunities at the free throw line.
