Continue ReadingIn a game that had no excitement and no cell phone service, Panorama easily dispatched Ogden to move to 19-1. The 13-8 hosts, struggled to get any offense going as they scored just 31 points. Panorama used a 20 point second quarter to extend a 32-13 lead at the half. Panorama easily took down Ogden 67-31. Below I recite the ten best from the game.
MVP: Morgan Johnk (Panorama)
Johnk came out blazing in this one. You can see that she was the best player on the floor. She was scoring the ball and defending really well. She put together a complete performance in this one. Really liked how she played in the post all game long scoring the ball, rebounding, and passing.
Best Offensive Player: Bailey Beckman (Panorama)
Beckman was hot early as she knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the first half en route to 12 points prior to the break. She is a good lead guard who can score the ball at all levels. She was feeling it early on and never stopped looking for her shot.
Best Defensive Player: Morgan Johnk (Panorama)
Johnk played great in the post. Most of the reason I named her MVP was because of her ability on defense. She had four steals in the first half but also added in a pair of blocks. A really solid showing for her as she didn’t allow Ogden to get the ball inside at all.
Best Passer: Abby Langel (Ogden)
Despite throwing some bad passes in this one, Langel passed it pretty well on the whole. She is the main focal point for this offense and was able to help her teammates get going a little bit. Langel wasn’t able to score on offense but instead reverted to setting up her teammates.
Best Rebounder: Ella Waddle (Panorama)
Despite being a 5’2 point guard, she rebounds the ball really well. She attacks the offensive boards and no one really blocks her out. Waddle crashes the boards every time and does a really solid job of reading where the ball is going to come off the rim at.
Best Upperclassman: Merideth Adreon (Ogden)
Adreon is a long wing who knocked down a 3-pointer in this one. Struggled a little bit but I thought that she has the physical traits that if she develops a little more skill, she can be pretty solid.
Best Underclassman: Peyton Beckman (Panorama)
The freshman for Panorama looked really solid. She’s a good defender and a really solid passer. She looks to get to the rim and dish the ball but she can also pass it well from the top. Lots of potential here with her game as she is basically an identical figure to her sister. She’ll be a big scorer next year.
Best Play:Bailey Beckman steal and lay-in
I lost track of how many times it happened, but Beckman kept stealing the ball and scoring at the other end. Whether it was her that stole it and laid it in or someone else who passed it to her, she got a lot of easy lay-ins.
Best Piece of the Game: Time
The game took an hour on the dot, and there were only 12 total fouls called. For a game that got out of hand early, this is exactly what I was hoping to see. An hour in the gym was a really good length of game
