The NBA All-Star game took place on Sunday. It was a collection of the biggest names and most talented players in the world. Michigan has one of the greatest collection of girls basketball talent in the country. What if we had a girls basketball All-Star Game much like in professional sports leagues? Below are 30 of the most talented seniors in the state. They have been selected and split into teams on the basis of location and talent. The 2 teams have been divided into East vs. West.
East Roster
[player_tooltip player_id="2388" first="Julia" last="Ayrault"] (6’2", Wing, Grosse Pointe North) [player_tooltip player_id="2408" first="Moriyah" last="Hamell"] (5’7", SG, River Rouge) [player_tooltip player_id="2467" first="Jayah" last="Hicks"] (6’0", F, Wayne Memorial) [player_tooltip player_id="22322" first="Moira" last="Joiner"] (5,9", PG, Saginaw Heritage) [player_tooltip player_id="2386" first="Rickea" last="Jackson"] (6’2", Wing, Detroit Edison) [player_tooltip player_id="22336" first="Alexis" last="Johnson"] (5’11", PF, Southfield A&T) [player_tooltip player_id="22325" first="Kate" last="McArthur"] (5’8", SG, Warren Cousino) [player_tooltip player_id="22334" first="Kendal" last="Muxlow"] (5’9", CG, Brown City) [player_tooltip player_id="2468" first="Maddie" last="Novak"] (5’11", SG, Detroit Country Day) [player_tooltip player_id="2469" first="Jasmine" last="Powell"] (5’8", PG, Detroit Country Day) [player_tooltip player_id="22329" first="Shine" last="Strickland-Gills"] (6’1", PF, Saginaw Heritage) [player_tooltip player_id="22326" first="Destiny" last="Strother"] (5’9", Flint Carman Ainsworth) [player_tooltip player_id="22324" first="Jeanae" last="Terry"] (5’11, CG, Wayne Memorial) [player_tooltip player_id="2423" first="Del’Janae" last="Williams"] (G, Detroit King) [player_tooltip player_id="22327" first="Taylor" last="Williams"] (6’2", PF, Macomb Dakota)
West Roster
[player_tooltip player_id="2400" first="Mauriya" last="Barnes"] (5’8, PG, East Kentwood) [player_tooltip player_id="2422" first="Alona" last="Blackwell"] (5’9", G, East Kentwood) Olivia Brown (5’8", G, East Grand Rapids) [player_tooltip player_id="22328" first="Molly" last="Davis"] (5’9", G, Midland Dow) [player_tooltip player_id="22337" first="Rebecca" last="Fugate"] (CG, Holly) [player_tooltip player_id="2392" first="Laya" last="Hartman"] (5’10, SG, Okemos) [player_tooltip player_id="22340" first="Chloe" last="Idoni"] (6’0", F, Fenton) [player_tooltip player_id="2477" first="Kashyra" last="Jackson"] (F, Arbor Prep) [player_tooltip player_id="22333" first="Eden" last="Johnson"] (6’2", F, Ann Arbor Huron) [player_tooltip player_id="2404" first="Mahri" last="Petree"] (5’10", G, Arbor Prep) [player_tooltip player_id="2432" first="Sydney" last="Shafer"] (5’10, SG, Jackson Northwest) [player_tooltip player_id="22331" first="Ellie" last="Smith"] (6’1", F, Fowlerville) [player_tooltip player_id="22330" first="Cara" last="VanKempen"] (6’0", F, Coopersville) [player_tooltip player_id="22335" first="Sophia" last="Ward"] (G, Muskegon Oakridge) [player_tooltip player_id="22323" first="Alyza" last="Winston"] (5’8, PG, Muskegon)
Game Breakdown
It’s obvious that the East has a distinct size advantage with playere like [player_tooltip player_id="2386" first="Rickea" last="Jackson"], [player_tooltip player_id="2388" first="Julia" last="Ayrault"], [player_tooltip player_id="22327" first="Taylor" last="Williams"], and [player_tooltip player_id="22329" first="Shine" last="Strickland-Gills"]. They also have versatile athletes like [player_tooltip player_id="22324" first="Jeanae" last="Terry"] and [player_tooltip player_id="22322" first="Moira" last="Joiner"]. The West team will ride its quick guards like [player_tooltip player_id="22323" first="Alyza" last="Winston"], [player_tooltip player_id="2422" first="Alona" last="Blackwell"], and [player_tooltip player_id="2400" first="Mauriya" last="Barnes"]. They have perimeter shooters and scorers like [player_tooltip player_id="2432" first="Sydney" last="Shafer"], [player_tooltip player_id="22328" first="Molly" last="Davis"], and [player_tooltip player_id="2392" first="Laya" last="Hartman"] that would carry them offensively.
