<p>One of the state’s premier small school players, Plainville 2020 guard Aubree Dewey is putting together a huge season and is drawing attention from college programs.</p><p>A 5’6 guard, Dewey brings a well-rounded skill set to the floor, willing to play both ends as an impact defender, and is a shooter, rebounder, creator and scorer. She brings quickness, intensity and a big motor to the floor as well.</p><p>Dewey is putting together a huge season, averaging 28.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 4.4 steals and a block per game for a Plainville squad that is now 11-9 as they gear up for Class 2A substate regionals.</p><p>“We are inexperienced but work hard. We are just wrapping up the regular season and are focusing on substate,” Dewey says.</p><p>She spent last offseason competing for Wheat State Elite and traveled around the Midwest playing against top level competition, testing her game.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p><p>“Wheat State is by far the best summer program I’ve been apart of,” Dewey said. “They have a family type atmosphere in their program. They have been and will continue to be a big part of my growth as a player. I feel like summer ball let’s me become a more complete player and it allows me to work on the part of my game that is the weakest. I carry over as much as I can from summer season to school season.”</p><p>Dewey says her dad has had the biggest impact on her basketball career to date.</p><p>“He was my first basketball coach and still continues to work with me everyday,” she says.</p><p>Dewey says she enjoys watching basketball at all levels, whether it’s her peers at the high school level, or college and professional ranks.</p><p>“I enjoy watching all levels of basketball, from kids to professional,” Dewey said. “As I watch college and professional I watch closely and try to find new moves I can try.”<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p><p>Dewey does not yet hold any offers, but has heard from several programs, including schools at the NCAA Division II level.</p><p>“I look forward to the process as my summer team schedule starts and of course entering my senior season,” she says.</p>
