We will cover who you should watch for, the teams that could come out of nowhere, and of course, the bracket buster candidate. We will also list five players from each class that you need to keep an eye on throughout the bracket as they can really change the game in a hurry. The complete Region 7 bracket is posted below.
The Teams
North Polk (19-2)
South Tama (10-7)
Centerville (10-8)
PCM, Monroe (9-11)
Chariton (8-11)
Davis County (7-13)
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont (3-15)
Albia (1-16)
The Favorite
North Polk
Nprth Polk is by far the best team in this region. They are a very good shooting team with really good guard play. They are scoring 57.5 points a game this season and are a very balanced team. Their guard play is some of the best in the state. North Polk has the most assists and the least amount of turnovers in the region. They are only two steals off of the region lead. Drake commit Maggie Phipps, a sophomore, leads the team in scoring at 19.3 points a game. That is the best in the region as well.
The Sleeper
Centerville
Centerville is 10-8 but they are able to score the ball pretty well. On the season they are scoring the ball at a 54.3 point per game clip which will bode them well in the tournament. They get to the line really well and once there they make 56.4 percent of their free throws. They do like to slow it down as they only have taken 840 shots on the season. Claire Matthews, a sophomore, leads the team in scoring at 15.2 points a game.
The Outside Shot
South Tama
Even though South Tama has one less loss than Centerville, I don’t think their offense is nearly as good as they only average 45.2 points a game on the year. They have only taken 784 shots from the floor this season and are converting those at a 36.5 percent rate. A Centerville vs. South Tama second round matchup could be really good. Senior Jessica Musgrave leads the team with 14.1 points a game.
