New Additions Into The PGH System

Below we cover five new prospects that we have never spoken about prior to this article. They are new/newer additions in our PGH System and they are ready to make their mark on their high school programs over the next couple of years.   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    Over the next few seasons we are going to see some really good ball being played out of the Quad Cities. Peyton Koehler will join North Scott High School either this season or next and she is looking to make her mark within the program right away. Koehler is a skilled Guard, that can move between the 1, 2, or 3 spots on the court. She is still raw within her own ability at this time but she is one of the more skilled prospects for her grade level and she should only get better as she continues to grow up around the sport.     Adelyne Szalo is going to be a prospect to keep an eye out at Waukee High School over the next four years. Unlike her older sister, Adelyne competes more as a PG or SG compared to a CG/SF. She is the type that is more likely to set up those around her and to create off the dribble than work off of the ball with someone else creating as the lead PG. She just seems more comfortable when the ball is in her hands and that's a great attribute to possess for someone walking onto the Varsity floor as a Freshman this upcoming Winter.     When you first see the Varsity floor sometimes it's a situation that you need slowly gain the coaches trust. You need to demonstrate that you can handle that pressure and responsibility at a young age while doing all that you can to show up as a producer for your squad. Lyza Britten was somewhat in this situation as a Freshman last year. She wasn't her team's main offensive weapon as a scoring threat but she ranked second in RPG and APG when the season came to an end, demonstrating that she can make her mark on a contest without having to score the rock. This Winter I expect her to be a little more confident within her own scoring ability though. She is coordinated, athletic, and knowledgeable in the game so it's not crazy to think that she will take a big step forward throughout her Sophomore season.     The future potential of Dreu Ellis and where she might end up as a college level prospect is wide open at this time. Ellis has that combination of size, tough, physicality, athletic ability, and smarts that every basketball enthusiast loves to see. She can move between the CG and Forward positions right now because of her mixture of all of these things. She is a mismatch to anyone that steps in her way right now, big or small, and that is something noteworthy. I'm not sure that Ellis will start for Fort Madison High School as an 8th grader this Winter but she should. It'll only help her progression down the line.     There is a chance that Maeve Moran could take over the Linn-Mar Marion High School program over the next three years with the type of play she brings to the hardwood. Moran is lengthy, quick acting, and a hard-worker. She gets her hands on tips/deflections every time she competes defensively and she is always causing chaos within her individual matchups. We have seen some of the potential that Moran brings to the floor on the travel scene over the last six months. If she can build off of the momentum she has put in place as we move into this Winter, she should be someone we talk about a few times throughout the season as we move towards 2027.
