Each girls team played four games throughout the day, and there were some players who stood out among the many talented players on the five courts.
Here is a look at six players who I thought played well, as they prepare to head into their travel ball seasons:
Chloe Peloquin, 6-1 2022, Johnstown Monroe- Chloe moved well with and without the ball, and in this type of event, she held her own most of the time on the floor.
Chloe has a good jumpshot out to 15’ on the baseline, and had the ability to play either the wing or post. Liked how she penetrated to the rim, or hit the midrange shot.
Emma Dretke Emma Dretke 5'9" | CG Jackson | 2022 State OH , 5-10 2022, Jackson- After having a very solid freshman year, I was interested to see how she performed in this kind on atmospehere. After a slow first game start, Emma really stepped up her game and played well the rest of the day.
She was a smart, heady player who can read the passing lanes. Around the rim, she was solid with a nice tough to her shot, and aggressive on the boards.
Tayen Brown, 5-7 2022, Hilliard Darby- A super athletic guard who impressed me with how poised she was most of the time. Very good on-ball defender, almost harassing at times to her opposing guard. Offensively, I was impressed how she could get to the rim with her quickness, and moved well without the ball. I expect her to get better and become a more all-around player this summer.
Trinity Ramos, 5-7 2022, Olentangy Liberty- already with a D1 offer and by looking at her, it’s not hard to see why. Trinity is a very good athletic guard who runs the court well in transition. She can push the offense and looks to beat her opposition down the floor for an easy score.
She has good handles and moves well when she doesn’t have the ball. Has a steady shot, and working to improve that. Will be fun to watch her progress.
Keeley Wright, 5-4 2022, Gahanna- another kid who showed good athleticism and not afraid of contact. She also loves to push the ball north and south, and knows where she is on the court.
She tries to get the offense moving fast for the quickest and easiest shot. She has a good shot with range, and can score around the basket.
Mira Randolph, 5-4 2020, Westerville South- I saw her and immediately remembered her from this event last year. I was impressed with her game a year ago, and liked what I saw last weekend. Plays an aggressive style of game with solid handles. Can shake off her defender and find the open player with the pass.
Anticipates well on defense, and directs traffic on offense. Good range, not afraid to shoot from behind the arc.
