Adversity is a thing that affects a lot of us and Austin battled just that. After having a stress fracture in her leg, she was forced to miss a good part of her Sophomore campaign. But when on the court, the young Wildcat was a big boost to Westerville South.
However, returning for injury Aja came back better than before. Coming back a double-double machine. Recording three of them in her last seven games, the Sophomore was a problem inside. Aja possesses a solid frame that is a matchup problem for opponents, as the Sophomore has the ability to dominate the paint at times already.
The lefty has a smooth touch inside, but can also stretch it a bit. She told me she was hoping to improve her three-point shot this summer, which would take her game to another level.
Aja noted that her best part of her game is finishing through contact, and making the right plays. A solid IQ for a sophomore, that you don’t see every day is exactly what Aja rolls with.
This season, the stud post player wanted to get mentioned in the OCC teams, and that’s what she did. An Honorable Mention nod, was a nice accolade for the young hooper.
With a strong will to get better, the 2021 player highlighted that she set out a goal to get better and learn from her teammates. Which, is exactly what she did.
Holding an offer from Detroit Mercy already, and interest from some other mid-majors is where Aja stands at the moment. But, not for long, as she should have another big offseason, rolling with Dayton Metro in AAU ball.
The Sophomore told me that she plans to work hard this summer, and add some offers. Also, along with her AAU team she wants to improve her all-around game and work hard.
Definitely a player to keep an eye on for the next couple years, as she continues to progress.
