Today, I will take a look at some of the top 2021 players who played in the event.
Class of 2021
Emma Hess, 6-1 Dayton Metro Painter: fun player to watch, as she is so talented in all aspects of the game. Not only is she a taller guard, she can score inside or out. Smooth perimeter shooter with the ability to score overtop her defenders. She is a nightmare matchup being a long athletic guard with solid handles. Sees the floor very well, can play 1-4 positions on the floor.
Emma runs the floor well on the break and can get to the rim. When she moves in the paint, she has good footwork and can score. Strong defender.
Ava Lickliter, 5-7 Dayton Metro Painter: coming off a great high school season advancing to the state finals, Ava is ready to continue her solid play on the travel circuit. She in an excellent on-ball defender and does so many good things, it is hard to take her off the floor. Not flashy, but definitely effective. She is a smart, heady guard with a high basketball IQ level. Floor leader and can score or find the better option.
Kara King, 5-10 Cincinnati Nation Open: Fun watching her play, she is a player who can get to the rim and is strong in the paint. You can’t focus on just one aspect of her game, as not only can she score around the rim, she can also score from the perimeter with an effective outside shot with good range. Excellent on-ball defender, causes turnovers and capitalizes on her overall skill level to lead her team.
Brianna Counts, 6-1 Cincinnati Nation Open: this kid is a special one. The Sycamore High School product uses her size well and does a good job on boxing out her defender around the rim. Good footwork in the paint, and can score both inside and out. Strong physically. Aggressive hard working kid. Gets to the rim and to the free throw line, or will bury the three over her defender.
Jenna Batsch, 5-11 Cincinnati Nation Open: another kid from the Queen City who is very skilled. Outstanding potential with good skills. Long kid with a good upside. Aggressive and quick with a nice jumper. One to watch this summer as her game grows.
Callie Hunt, 6-1 Dayton Lady Hoopstars Premier: rising player who is a solid wing who can guard inside/out. She also can score from either the perimeter or at the rim. Good range and not afraid to score from the three. She moves well to the ball with good hands. Rebounds well and runs transition well.
Ivy Wolf, 5-8 Dayton Lady Hoopstars Premier: such a talent, and is not flashy about it. Very effective guard who can score on the drive, or from the perimeter. Incredible intangibles and a natural floor leader. Quarterback on the floor. Can run in transition or run the offense to look for the best shot. Great handles, defends and seems to only be getting better.
