The event was filled with several top players from some of the area’s top AAU clubs. It was a good chance to showcase their skills before the Easter weekend, then heading out to the important Division One recruiting weekend coming up April 26-28.
Today, a look at some of the incoming seniors who played well on this day:
Class of 2020
Jordan Varise, 5-8 Dayton Lady Hoopstars Elite: smart player who is good in the open floor, with good floor awareness. Does a good job finding the open player for a better shot, and is a great passer. Strong framed point guard who can also score, and runs the floor well in transition.
Megan Jurosic, 6-0 Dayton Lady Hoopstars Elite: I really liked her game in the game I saw early Saturday morning. She was a strong physical presence in the paint, and moves well on the block. Does a nice job sealing, rebounding and maintaining possession and crashes the boards well. She is also a good offensive rebounder. Can step out and connect from the perimeter, with good range. Just a competitor.
Summer Bush, 5-7 Cincy Shock: hard working player who comes from a successful high school program. Scrappy. Strong defensive player and aggressive on offense. Can shoot the ball very well from the perimeter with good range. Will knock down the 3. Has deceiving speed and it helps her offense get going. Also can handle the ball pretty well.
Peyton Warnecke, 5-9 Dayton Lady Hoopstars Varsity: excellent floor leader and always active on defense. Good floor general with a high basketball IQ. An unselfish player who looks for the best shot for her team. A high motor. Peyton (pictured above) moves well without the ball and can push transition. Comes from a very successful high school team and her leadership shows.
Reagan Ware, 5-7 Dayton Lady Hoopstars Varsity: solid guard who is best known for her ability to open up a zone with her phenomenal shooting ability. If you leave her open, she will light up you. Great range beyond the 3-point arc, but can also get to the rim and in turn, get to the line. Outstanding handles, smart player with a high IQ. Moves well to get open.
Zoe Stephen, 5-8 Dayton Metro Majors: hard working kid who can attack the basket, has good speed and can play physical. Can score around the rim, or step out and score from the perimeter. Physical defender, not afraid of contact. Sees the floor well when she runs the point.
Camryn Miller, 5-8 Dayton Metro Majors: she is known for her perimeter shooting, but Miller brings more to the table. She is a very good passer and will find the open player around the rim. Can penetrate to score or will dish to that open player. Always working to get better on the floor, she will mic it up and get to the offensive boards.
Megan Leraas, 5-10 Dayton Metro Majors: after a strong high school season, Megan is making the transition to the travel ball season well. She can finish well at the rim, and moves well without the ball. She has good range and can connect from the three. Good handles and a smart player. Good rebounder and solid defender.
