Although the below players did not make the final cut in my categories, it in no way takes away from their performances from the weekend. I liked how all of these girls played below and several of them are considered top players in Southwest Ohio. Here are my top 5 best of the rest performers from Saturday’s action.
Grace Pritchard (2022) Mason- Ohio Stars Elite
An extremely tough competitor. Grace was strong with the basketball and brought an aggressive style of play for Ohio Stars. In a losing effort, she gave 100% effort until the end which helped keep her team in their game against Cincy Nation.
Kenny McQuillan (2022) Centerville- Ohio Stars Elite
Kenny plays hard on both ends of the floor. She does not take any plays off and hustles after loose balls, etc. I liked her ability to defend the post as she was able to front when needed and even created a few turnovers on lazy or forced post entry passes.
Lauren Legate (2021) Valley View- Dayton Lady Hoopsters Premier
In the past when I’ve seen Lauren play, she has shown off her sharp shooting abilities. Saturday she was unable to get much going from behind the arc. She did however show off her great defensive play as she had active hands when guarding the ball and hustled on the defensive end. Still one of my favorite prospects in Dayton.
Val Muhlenkamp (2020) Fort Recovery- Dayton Lady Hoopsters Premier
One of the common themes for this DLH Premier team is the amount of hustle they show on the floor. Val demonstrated this with her defensive hustle, especially when guarding the basketball. On the offensive end, she had a very nice midrange jumper that Dayton Metro struggled to defend.
Emmerson Rines Springboro- Dayton Metro-Ballard
I liked how Emmerson moved without the basketball in Dayton Metro’s loss against All Ohio Express. Not staying in one spot, Rines used the entire floor and did a nice job of spacing things out when needed. Although I did not see much on the defensive end, she showed potential offensively as a distributing guard.
