On Friday, March 26th, OGBR held the Spring Special at the spacious Ohio Sports Plus facility in Cincinnati. On the eve of The Clash, over 70 college coaches packed the baseline to watch some of the region’s top talents. They certainly saw some good players throughout the day.
Let’s take a look at some of the 2022’s that stood out at the OGBR Spring Special.
There are not many players who compete as hard as Allison Basye. (Photo Credit: Chillicothe Gazette)Allison Basye – 5’10 Guard – Huntington
Basye is a point forward with explosive athleticism. She is proving to be one of the more underrated players in the Class of 2022. Allison is quick off of her feet as a finisher and rebounder. She has a good stop-and-pop game and is also active in transition. She is very strong – her physical tools and competitive approach to the game will continue to benefit her down the road.
Chance Gray (pictured above) – 5’9 Guard – Lakota West
Gray is well on her way to becoming the total package as a complete point guard. She has great handles and is special with the ball in her hands in a number of different situations – including the pick-and-roll and transition games. A good shooter from the perimeter and mid-range levels, Gray finishes around the basket with both hands and does a superb job of leading her team and creating scoring opportunities for others.
Blessing King – 5’8 Guard – Worthington Christian
King has combo guard ability and size. She is a good communicator and does a lot of things on the court that won’t show up in the stat sheet. She is a good ball-handler who scores in bunches from all levels. It will be interesting to continue to monitor Blessing’s development and recruitment – she has a lot of potential.
Sarah Seaman – 5’7 Guard – Garrettsville Garfield
Seaman will not wow you with her athleticism and she probably is a D3 player at the collegiate level someday, but she was one of the most productive guards at the Spring Special. Sarah probably finished with close to a dozen assists – which is rare at an individual exposure event and also knocked down a handful of jumpers.
Grace VanSlooten is one of the top 2022 prospects in the entire country. (Photo Credit: Toledo Blade)Grace VanSlooten – 6’2 Wing – Toledo Notre Dame
VanSlooten is a walking bucket. She can get to the rim off of the bounce, score in the post with a number of different moves and she has walk-in-the-gym range from 3-point land. She is an excellent rebounder. One of the top 2022’s in all of the country – Grace is a can’t miss prospect.
