What a season 2018-19 turned out to be. St. Frances Academy added another IAAM championship banner to their collection. River Hill came out of nowhere to win the 2A state championship and Pikesville took care of some unfinished business in 1A by securing their school’s first title. Frederick capped off a threepeat because they had the player of the year in senior Makayla Daniels.

Player of the Year

Makayla Daniels, Frederick

Makayla closed out a special career with her 3rd straight championship. She saved her best moments for the biggest games. She just would not allow her team to lose, and proved to be unstoppable down the stretch of those big playoff games. Look for her to do damage in the SEC at Arkansas.

Coaches of the Year

Teresa Waters, River Hill and Mike Dukes, Pikesville

This was a tough one so we chose both coaches. Pikesville was steady for most of the year and took care of their business en route to the 1A title. River Hill surged late and won some tough battles on their way to the 2A championship.
