
Tink Butler has been involved with athletics for most of his life, starting as a basketball player, coach and undefeated boxer. He played basketball in high school before joining the military. He has coached different levels of men’s basketball from Division III college to military and high school. Tink started Next Sports Phenom, a media and NCAA compliant scouting service in 2008 and has been covering both girls and boys basketball in Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virgina since then. He has two daughters who have both played division I basketball and a son who is currently a high school college D-I prospect.

Al was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Providence, Rhode Island. He played for the state championship team at Classical High School and was inducted into their athletic hall of fame in 2015. He started coaching CYO at St. Ambrose and St. William of York in Baltimore City, and coached AAU with Baltimore Starz from 2003-2015. Al was named 2008 Coach of the year in the Women's Eastern Basketball Alliance (semi-pro). In 2016, he founded Power Move Basketball. He also has 3 years of high school experience at John Carroll including an IAAM B conference championship team. Finally, he established 695Hoops.com to cover girls basketball in DC, MD and VA in 2010.
