When we decided to write about some of the top underclassmen in each of Ohio’s 88 counties, we knew that we were in for a surprise or two along the way. We knew that Holmes County – one of the first counties that we featured – had 2 tremendous high school girls basketball programs in Berlin Hiland and Millersburg West Holmes. We also knew that it would be very difficult to narrow our list down for Cuyahoga County (we have yet to do this) and its 70+ high schools. We were surprised to learn that Harrison County only features one high school girls basketball program – The Harrison Central Huskies. Although our list for Harrison County may not be as long as all of the others – it is important that we give their ballers the same profile as the rest of the counties during this off-season.
Let’s take a look at a number of talented underclassmen from Harrison County.
McKayla Dunkle – 6’0 Forward – Harrison Central – Class of 2022
Dunkle has a bright future ahead of her as a potential centerpiece at Harrison Central. She is a long and athletic forward with room to add some muscle to her frame as she matures and gets older. McKayla is a good rebounder who does a nice job of getting off of her feet around the rim. She can finish with both hands around the basket offensively.
Britton Positano – 5’6 Guard – Harrison Central – Class of 2021
Although she can handle the ball, Positano is probably best as an off-guard – utilizing her tremendous ability to knock down open looks from 3-point range. A good 3-sport athlete who uses that athleticism on the defensive end of the floor at Harrison Central, Britton is going to have to pick up some of the slack offensively as her basketball squad tries to replace a lot of scoring in the graduating senior class.
