Throughout this off-season, the Prep Girls Hoops staff will be taking a close look at some of the top underclassmen across all of Ohio’s 88 counties.

On the shores of Lake Erie, Lake County is home to one of Ohio's most diverse public park systems. It is also home to one of the state's deepest and most diverse groups of basketball talent. Although Lake County features no "booming metropolis" - it certainly has a wide variety of high schools. Spanning multiple divisions in the OHSAA and featuring a very talented list of kids, Lake County has a number of standouts - who made this list very tough to narrow down.

Let’s take a look at a number of talented underclassmen from Lake County.
[caption id="attachment_51598" align="alignleft" width="300"] Destiny Leo doesn't have much left to prove at Eastlake North. The 1st Team All-Ohioan and D1 commit will be returning in the winter for her senior season. (Photo Credit: Eastlake North)[/caption] Destiny Leo - 5'10 Guard - Eastlake North - Class of 2020 Leo is the gold star of this bunch. One of the leading scorers in the entire state of Ohio during the 2018-2019 season, the Cleveland State commit led her Eastlake North team to an undefeated regular season and a run to the Regional Finals before finally falling to GlenOak. Destiny has great size on the perimeter, as well as a skill set that makes it look extremely easy as she scores from all 3 levels. She is an outstanding physical and is one of the toughest and most mentally unflappable players on the court night-in and night-out. Madison Cloonan - 5'9 Guard - Cornerstone Christian - Class of 2020 Cloonan was the best player this year for D4 state powerhouse Cornerstone Christian. Madison does so many things well on the basketball court. She can initiate the offense, defend top players on the other team, shoot the 3-ball, create scoring opportunities for her teammates and even add 6-8 rebounds a night. Riley Stopp - 5'10 Wing - Cornerstone Christian - Class of 2021 Stopp - the daughter of Cornerstone head coach and former Cleveland State player Lisa Stopp - was her team's leading scorer last winter sophomore. The lengthy forward is strong and physical. Riley plays with a high motor and creates mismatches at will with her ability to score on the block or step out and knock down shots. [caption id="attachment_51600" align="alignright" width="300"] Grace Wolf had a great freshmen year at Kirtland. (Photo Credit: Ohio Varsity)[/caption] Grace Wolfe - 5'11 Forward - Kirtland - Class of 2022 A 3-sport standout during her freshmen year at Kirtland - Grace was the goalie for the team's outstanding soccer team and has been a key contributor for the softball squad in the spring. However, she may have made the biggest splash on the basketball court. The athletic post was a double-double machine who also showed the ability to block a number of shots around the basket. She has big-time star-potential. Riley Montagner - 5'6 Guard - Madison - Class of 2022 Montagner burst onto the scene as a spunky ball-dominant guard with the ability to put a team on her back. As part of a freshmen-laden lineup at Madison, Montagner was often faced with the other team's best defender (sometimes 3 years older), but it never phased her. Riley is probably at her best right now when she is attacking the rim and playing in an up-tempo game. She is a solid defender. Stephanie Martin - 5'5 Guard - Wickliffe - Class of 2020 Martin is already a 1000 point career scorer at Wickliffe, where she also became the school's all-time leading scorer during her junior season. A hard-nosed player - Stephanie loves to attack defenses by getting in the paint at will. She shoots a high number of FT's and puts the opposition in foul trouble at a high rate. She can knock down the 3 when teams sag off of her and she has no problem finishing through contact at the rim. [caption id="attachment_51601" align="alignleft" width="300"] Abby Carter can shoot it with the best of them. (Photo Credit: Ohio Varsity)[/caption] Abby Carter - 5'10 Guard - Eastlake North - Class of 2021 Carter played her best in some of Eastlake North's biggest games. She is a dead-eye 3-point shooter with walk-in-the-gym range and the length and smooth release to get her shot off at any time. Abby is a great passer with tremendous court vision. She should be a very solid college player at the D1 level. Madyson Hacking - 5'6 Guard - Perry - Class of 2021 Hacking is a strong guard who plays much bigger than her size would suggest. She is a true jump shooter with great form and legitimate range from 3-point land. Madyson is also comfortable going to step-back jumper or pull-up jumper when she is creating off of the bounce. She is an active defender who causes havoc on that end of the court. Elle Infalvi - 5'6 Guard - Perry - Class of 2021 A tremendous shooter - Infalvi has a quick release that seems effortless. Often times, she is face-guarded, as teams don't want the playmaker to have the ball in her hands or get any clean looks at the rim. Elle is currently better in catch-and-shoot situations than she is off of the bounce. She clearly has a very bright future at Perry and beyond.
