Puletti (pictured above), who plays at Gilmour Academy in Northeast Ohio, one of the traditionally stronger teams in the Buckeye state.
She is one of the fast rising players last weekend, Puletti is a kid who can light up a defense with her strong perimeter shooting.
Her club coach Kevin McNamara says she has great athleticism allowing her defend the 2-guard well and understand space.
“Coaches are taking a good look at her,” he said. “They haven’t seen many girls who can get rid of it as quick as her with that kind of accuracy.”
“Over time, I have gotten more comfortable and it has helped raise my confidence,” she said. Puletti also has become a player who is a strong player who can create for her teammates. She is the first to admit that she needs to work on her ball handling skills. In addition to her perimeter game, Puletti can also get to the rim, and score with either hand.
She is a good defender which she has really progressed with over the last year, with her high school demanding a strong defensive presence on the court.
Puletti will likely play a 2 or 3 in college, and continues to receive interest after her very successful weekend.
“I had one school compare her to Allison Smolinski from Youngstown State and North Royalton with her athletic ability and release of her shot,” McNamara said. “You think you have her covered but she can get it off so quick.”
Over the weekend, Puletti showcased her outstanding shooting ability from the deep three range, and continues to build her confidence with a number of shots she did get to put up.
Maddie has a quick release over the defense, and can play through contact. She can also push the ball in transition and score.
At this point, Puletti is uncertain as to what she wants to major in, but is steering toward something in the medical field, possibly athletic training or nursing.
