The OGBR Elite Exposure Basketball Camp was held on Friday, May 17th at the beautiful Mid-America Sports Complex. With the usual high volume of college coaches in attendance – OGBR packed the house with top-notch talent from multiple states on the east coast.
Let’s take a look at some players who caught our eye at The OGBR Elite Exposure Basketball Camp.
Malea Bess knocked down a number of perimeter attempts and showed solid playmaking ability. (Photo Credit: Hudl)Malea Bess – 5’7 Guard – Class of 2021 – Pickerington North
Bess is very athletic and uses that athleticism to finish around the rim with both hands. She is probably better suited in the off-guard role, as opposed to playing as the guard who would initiate the offense. She is a great 3-point shooter with a quick release and good range.
Jayiona Cobbs – 5’9 Guard – Class of 2021 – Evanston Township (IL)
Smooth off of the bounce with an outstanding pull-up game, Cobbs was one of the event’s top performers in the Class of 2021. She is a tremendous passer and makes plays for her teammates consistently. A good 3-point shooter, Jayiona is also very explosive as a driver. She can score at all 3 levels.
Elise Harden – 6’1 Forward – Class of 2020 – Columbia (GA)
A good communicator who plays hard on D with very active hands, Harden has major upside. She has a solid package of post moves and does a great job of kicking out of double-teams when appropriate. She runs the floor hard in transitions and rolls hard to the rim in 1/2 court sets, when given the opportunity.
The drive from Michigan was worth it for Abbey Kimball. She dominated the day’s 3rd session. (Photo Credit: Twitter)Abbey Kimball – 5’10 Guard – Class of 2022 – Grand Rapids West Catholic (MI)
Kimball is a long PG who creates a number of scoring opportunities off of the dribble. She can knock down the stand-still J from 3 and also uses a nice pull-up J from the mid-range. Abby had some of the most impressive court vision that we saw on the day – she got her teammates involved at a high level. She blocks a number of shots and rebounds very well for a guard.
Celina Koncz – 6’0 Wing – Class of 2020 – Chippewa
Koncz was on the court with a number of Division 1 prospects and she definitely stood out at times. Long and lanky – she is in the point-forward mold. It’s normal to see her grab a defensive rebound and bring the ball down the court to initiate the offense. She has good court vision and can score inside and out. Celina blocked a handful of shots on the day.
Addesa Miller – 5’7 Guard – Class of 2024 – Dalton
Explosive in the open court – Miller is always putting pressure on defenses. Her attack mindset – whether with the ball in her hands or on the offensive glass – gets her a number of free throw attempts throughout a given game. She is an active defender with good lateral quickness and the potential to take opposing guards out of the game completely. It will be interesting to see how her game develops as she matures.
Teegan Pifher showed why a number of Division I are pursuing her services at the next level. (Photo Credit: Delaware Gazette)Teegan Pifher – 6’1 Forward – Class of 2020 – Olentangy Liberty
After recently re-opening up her recruiting process, Pifher played very well in Louisville and left the weekend with over a dozen new Division I offers. Teegan plays with a lot of energy and a constant motor. She is a good rebounder. Her offensive game should continue to develop and become more fluid at the college level – she has a very high ceiling.
Sydney Snyder – 5’7 Wing – Class of 2021 – Loudonville
Although she didn’t have the athleticism that many of the other prospects possessed in Louisville, Snyder was certainly one of the best shooters. In a remarkable display of marksmanship – Sydney drilled her first 6 3-point attempts in her game. Her footwork is awkward, but she has a high release that does not take very long to get off. She rebounded at a high level.
Brooklyn Troyer – 5’7 Guard – Class of 2021 – Waynedale
Troyer – who played well at OGBR’s initial exposure event of the spring in Cincinnati – had another outstanding day. She is a great jump-shooter, who can create her own shots or make things happen off of the ball. She finishes well at the rim and has a good knack for getting the ball up to the glass quickly before taller defenders can block her shots.
