Defensively Strong
In the first half against the Wisconsin Playmakers, the Heat were able to create many turnovers. Defensively, the player that stood out was Josie Palmer/White Bear Lake. She was very strong on the boards and created multiple problems for the Playmakers down low and generated a good amount of steals to her name. Plays a very scrappy game, not afraid to dive for a lose ball, fight for a jumpball, etc.
Scoring All Around
Some teams have stars that light up the score sheet, some spread the scoring around. Minnesota Heat is a consistent spread the love around team. Today, I saw double digit points from Greta Schwartz/Southwest Christian (Chaska) and a strong showing Elayra Dizon/Stillwater who also had a strong showing defensively as well. Dizon is a very aggressive shooter, and when its falling she could be a threat this AAU season as well as when High School hoops starts up. Ellie Kuhn/Andover also has a nice three point shot that should get more chances after yesterday’s showing.
Play of the Day
Although the Heat had to break the full court press multiple times this afternoon, I witnessed the best play of the day from Maddy Abbas/Andover who took the ball the whole distance of the court, thru traffic and made a great layup and got the and one! She has an awesome handle and her dribbling ability will do wonders for the Andover Huskies this winter.
