Nearly 180 girls in two sessions graced the courts in the beautiful four-court complex at Wooster in front of 49 college coaches.
Several kids stood out and shined over the day, which included two sessions. Today I will look at five of the 2020’s who performed well.
Haleigh Behnken (Greenville)- this kid continues to improve everytime I see her, and there are not many as dedicated as this one. Behnken showed good speed and handles while moving well with and without the ball. Showed good athleticism and made the good pass. One of the better shooters on the day, and aggressive around the ball. Smart player looking for a great senior year ahead. Has verballed to Edison State.
Jasmine Jamiel (Wilmington)- showed a lot of talent on Sunday coming off a good summer with Ohio Elite. Another player who has exceptional athleticism and can score on you inside or out. Runs well in transition and can get by her defender for the drive. Good handles with both hands, and a good on-ball defender.
Madison Cecil (Sparta Highland)- fiery guard who was all over the floor. Excellent handles who ran well in transition. Madison (pictured above) is a good floor leader and quarterback on the floor. Found the right person for the best shot, or could shoot it from the arc. Just a hard-nosed kid with heart. Solid defender, created turnovers and made things happen.
Megan Jurosic (New Knoxville)- repped the NW District in a big way, as she made her presence felt. Physically strong and aggressive around the basket, and has turned into a solid player both offensively and on defense. Can back down a defender and score, or take it off the dribble. Watch out for her this year in her final season with the Rangers.
Sylvie Sonneman (Greeneview)- her name came up a few times when talking to the coaches, and for good reason. She has great size for a guard, and was among the best pure shooters in the gym. Can score off the pass or the bounce. Great range and can get to the rim. Excellent court awareness.
