West Side Revival

The Great Lakes State features basketball talent at every nook and cranny. Often times, the Detroit Metro area overshadows the west side of the state. We’re currently seeing a change in the landscape of Michigan high school basketball. The west side is increasing its number of top notch players and the amount of depth in that half of the state has drastically increased in recent years. It’s important to give credit to some of the players leading the charge in western Michigan. Here is a look at 8 upperclassmen who are playing a role in the west side revival in Michigan: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="126248" first="Jolee" last="Houle"] (2020, G, Grand Haven)</strong> Houle is the type of player that every coach wants at least one of on their team. She has an overwhelming desire to do what’s best for her team. Houle is an elite defender and consistent shooter. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="2522" first="Hadley" last="Miller"] (2020, SF, Three Rivers)</strong> Miller is a silky smooth wing. She’s an athletic scorer who can find buckets in multiple ways. Miller can shoot, slash to the rim, and play in the open floor. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="23753" first="Elise" last="Stuck"] (2020, G, Charlevoix)</strong> Stuck is one of the top scorers in the state. Her range is limitless and she’s a game changing shooter. When Stuck gets hot, watch out because she can hit a triple with a hand in her face. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="138300" first="Kenzie" last="Bowers"] (2021, G, Kent City)</strong> Bowers reminds me of Steph Curry. It doesn’t matter where she’s at or the what the game situation is, she can and will scorch the net. Bowers is a next level type shooter. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="4142" first="Jillian" last="Brown"] (2021, CG, East Grand Rapids)</strong> Brown has proven to be a high major recruit. She can do it all on the perimeter, playing on or off the ball. Her ability to score and dish makes her a constant threat. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27970" first="AJ" last="Ediger"] (2021, F, Hamilton)</strong> Ediger is an extremely fun player to watch. It’s not if she’s going to go off, it’s when. Ediger is an elite scorer and rebounder, making her a walking double-double. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="138298" first="Ally" last="VanTimmeren"] (2021, F, Jenison)</strong> VanTimmeren is a must see basketball player here in Michigan. She can score in a variety of ways making her an almost impossible cover for a defender. VanTimmeren just has a plethora of weapons on both ends. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26677" first="Morasha" last="Wiggins"] (2021, SG, Kalamazoo Central)</strong> Wiggins is an extremely high IQ player. We all know that she can basically score whenever she wants. But she precisely picks and chooses her times hen attacks relentlessly.
