Continue ReadingWhile West Liberty Salem cruised through the North Division, the South was a battle for the entire season. Four of the six teams were within two games of each other in the division standings, with Greeneview escaping with a 13-3 OHC record last season. Who will prevail this year in a very balanced division? Only time will tell.
Catholic Central
I was very impressed with this team over the summer, and I look for them to challenge near the top. Junior Abbigail Peterson (pictured above) is an athletic, strong physical guard who has elevated her game. Sophomore Mallory Mullen and her inside game will be key for this season. Serenity Castle is an improved sophomore who looks to raise her game this year. Those are the top three offensive players returning, but they will get help from other key players.
Cedarville
It will be interesting how the Indians perform with the loss of Maggie Coe, a great all-around player. Junior Elly Coe returns as their top player, as she looks to take over the leadership role. Several role players return and will have to raise their production this season for Cedarville to compete for a league title.
Greeneview
Senior Sylvie Sonneman is back, as the solid all-around player averaged over 15 points per game last season. She did lose some key seniors who will be tough to replace, but watch for the likes of Ellie Snyder and Rachel Strickle to contribute and be a major factor in their success.
Greenon
It was a rough summer for the Knights, as returning starter and all-conference player Lydia Henry injured her ACL taking away a major factor in Greenon’s success. Greenon returns first-team guard Reagan Ware, a perimeter threat and top returning player. Also back is Sierra Potter, who had some very good games last season and is a key returning player. Delaney Benedict is a solid point guard and good floor general.
Madison Plains
With the conference’s second top rebounder back, Madison Plains looks to improve and battle for a conference title. Hope Fetherolf is a 5-10 senior who will be joined by sophomore Rylee Davis and 5-6 junior Serenity Huffman.
Southeastern
The Trojans just finished under .500 last season, and won seven of their conference games. Senior Laney Mills is their top returning player.
