It remains to be seen exactly how many of these players will play at the mid-high to high major level, but multiple players in the top 10 or so have a shot at the very least. Projections are always a little tricky, but in the meantime, here are the top five prospects in the 2022 class as it stands today.
2022 Top 5:
6’2 SF Drea Brumfield (W.F. West HS) – Drea takes the number one slot for the initial ranking in the 2022 class. Drea currently holds offers from Portland State and Portland and holds strong interest from schools all over the country. She is on the extremely short list of players with a reported Division 1 offer at this time. Drea is a very skilled wing/guard with great length and a smooth presence about her on the court. She is agile and does a good job of altering shots and getting into passing lanes on defense. Drea will need to continue to get stronger, but that can come with proper training and natural maturation. *Feature image on right
6’1 SF Avery Watkins (Kennedy Catholic HS) – A high level athlete that has the interest of D1’s from around the country. Avery gets off the floor well skying for rebounds and she can push it on the break. She has a solid frame with a lot of potential with her skill set. As she continues to develop her all around scoring skill set, it will help take her game to another level.
6’0 SG Jada Wynn (KIng’s HS) – Jada is one of the better shooters in the entire state for her class. She has a strong frame that can absorb contact and she is a skilled offensive player all around. Jada has a solid feel for the game and she will just need to focus on being a 2-way player, so she can be as versatile as possible. Jada is another legitimate Division 1 prospect in 2022 class.
5’10 SG Zahirah Walton (Eastside Catholic HS) – Zahirah, better known as “Zaza”, is a fluid athlete with a lot of natural ability. She handles the ball very well and she can get by most defenders. Her shot has gotten better in the last year and something she’ll want to continue to work on if she wants to play at the highest level she can. She is a pesky defender and has some good bounce to her step. She has some legit college interest and it will only grow as she moves through high school.
6’0 SF Jadyn Watts (West Seattle HS) – Jadyn has one of the highest ceilings in the entire class as a college prospect. She has an ideal Division 1 frame with long arms and big hands. She has nearly perfect shooting form and shoots it with confidence. Jadyn has much less game playing experience than other girls her age, but college coaches became fully aware of her this summer. She has garnered real interest from WCC and Ivy League schools among others.
