Many of them opened some eyes with a solid performance in the skills session, and I was impressed how solid they played during the evaluation games.
Here are 5 of the many who had a good day at Wooster:
Carmen Hueker (Botkins)- showed a lot of poise as she stepped onto this big stage. One of the better players with Rush Elite during the summer, and I was impressed how she performed. Excellent handles and body control from the PG spot. Consistent perimeter shooter, and can get by her defender to score at the rim. Future is bright for Carmen.
Haley Crozier (Springboro)- loved this kid from the time I first saw her. I think her work ethic and willingness to learn and get better is what did it. Can shoot the lights out from deep, pushes the tempo and has good handles. Can run the floor and finish on the break. Has the ability to attack off the dribble and create.
Chloe Pordash (Serra Catholic)- This Pennsylvania standout is very skilled and can do a lot of things with the ball. A taller guard, she can utilize her height against her opponent, can put the ball on the floor or score from the perimeter. Can finish through contact, and is a strong player with the ball. Coachable kid who did well during the skill session.
Logan Pride (Twinsburg)- long and athletic guard who will score at the rim and create plays for her team. At 5’8, she can play inside-out and be a matchup nightmare for defenders. Defensively, Logan (pictured above) will pressure her defender and will block shots, also her quickness and anticipation can lead to fast break opportunities when she turns a turnover into a score. Quick hands.
Crysta LaCrosse (Mount Notre Dame)- She is getting better every time I see her. Great kid who always puts forth a great effort. Works hard to make herself better. Handles the ball well with both hands, shoot perimeter game. Nice defensive player with a good upside. Tough kid, good strong mental part of the game.
