The game today is best played with an excellent point guard that can break down the defense. With a guard that can create her own shot by breaking down her defender it forces the defense to collapse and help. This creates the catch and shoot opportunity or the dump down to the post. The top teams in the SWC all return a strong point guard.

Kayla Gordon is a 5'4 2020 point guard from O'Fallon. Kayla is excellent at getting into the lane and finishing over taller players. She has great handles and body control so that allows her to find a way to get her shots off in the lane. Kayla shot the ball at a 37% clip from behind the 3 if you choose to lay off her. Kayla has multiple strong post players that she needs to involve a little more. She has a burning desire to finish herself but the better play might be to pass at times. Kayla has strong D3 interest and that list of small college opportunities should grow during the season.

Quierra Love is a 5'4 2020 point guard from Edwardsville. Que is the leader of the Lady Tiger squad. She is as fast as they come with the ball in her hand. She can drive it, is a great passer and can score at the rim. Que has improved her shot so much in the last 18 months. Last season she hit 46% from behind the arc. Que has been a big part of the varsity team since her freshman year and is a 3 year starter. She is a tough defender and does not turn the ball over. She is verbally committed to play at SIU Carbondale but still has unfinished business at Edwardsville.

Faith Liljegren is a 5'7 2020 point guard from Collinsville. Faith is an excellent athlete that excels as a point guard in basketball. She has great quickness and speed that she uses well on the basketball court. She can defend and run the offense/lead the team. Faith averaged 8 points per game, almost 5 assists and 5 steals. She does an excellent job of using her speed to push the ball up the floor on the break. Faith is also an excellent leader.Faith has given a verbal commitment to SEMO to play D1 soccer.

Grace Riley is a 5'6 2021 point guard from Belleville East. Grace will step into the point guard role moving into her junior campaign. As a sophomore her time was limited due to a strong senior guard class. She had a very good summer with her Evolution Elite team and is ready to show what she has. Grace has very good court vision and passes the ball well. She has shown the ability to hit the open 3 and light up the scoreboard when left open. Grace will have the chance to take the keys to the team and show what she can do this year.

Lamiya Terrell is a 5'7 2022 guard from Belleville West. Lamiya started at the end of her freshman season. She gained valuable experience in the SWC playing against tough competition. She is a very good ball handler and an excellent defender. Lamiya has long arms that she uses to disrupt the offense. She takes over the starting spot from day one as a sophomore and has the potential to be one of the best in the area according to West coach Clayton Fisher. Lamiya is one to watch.
