This event was invitation only for classes 2022, 2023, and 2024. There were college coaches that led each of the four teams that consisted of ten players which put this whole event at forty total girls. Harry Elifson from Preferred Athlete Scouting Services (PASS) provided a detailed professional evaluation for every single girl at this event during their games. When they weren’t playing, they were in training sessions with Shawn Faust of iHandle Basketball. There were also evaluators and scouts that were local as well as national such as Andy Potts, Mike Terry, and Jeff Turner. With all of that in mind, the event ran very smooth and was super organized. It was a terrific event that is fantastic exposure for girls who are beginning their high school careers. Here is a look at some of the top incoming Sophomores who attended:
Jaela Davis (5-8 CG Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate HS) was the most vocal player of the day. She was a positive communicator who shined in all aspects of her game. Jaela shot the ball outside very well and got to the basket at will. Her defense was up in your face and she was all over the place with her help side D. She is a speed demon who should have a fantastic Sophomore season.
Aly Avrach (5-8 CG Spanish River HS) had the purest stroke of any player at the showcase. It was her and Jaela that were the two most encouraging teammates of the day. She handled the ball with ease and had a strong left hand in terms of dribbling/finishing at the rim. Aly can shoot from anywhere, and I was impressed with her rebounding ability as a combo guard.
Emari Lewis (5-6 CG Wesley Chapel HS) used her speed to blow by defenders and create for herself and her teammates. That speed helped her get plenty of space to knock down a few treys as well. She had solid handles and played great on the defensive end with multiple steals that led to easy buckets.
Alexis Jones (5-10 F American Collegiate Academy) did a little bit of everything as a strong-framed forward. She’s got soft touch and a solid mid-range game. Her handles were impressive as she took her defenders off the dribble with a silky jump shot or a strong finish. Alexis protected the the rim with some big time blocks too.
Reese Tremitiere (6-1 PF Gulf Coast HS) runs the court very well for a forward. She controlled the paint on offense with some nifty post moves, and on defense with her shot blocking and rebounding abilities. Reese is tough in the interior and knew where to be at all times.
Reilly Webb (5-7 CG Lakewood HS) is a player who anyone would want on their team. She has great basketball IQ, and she’s a grinder. Reilly used her athleticism and strength to annoy players on both ends. Her floater game was clutch too.
Maddy Boehm (5-5 PG St Stephens Episcopal School) worked the hardest out of just about any player at the event. She hustled all over the place and was a high motor spectacle. Maddy had great court vision, shot well from everywhere, played nice defense, and took care of the ball for her team. I was impressed with her finishes on both sides of the rim.
Michel Rivera (5-7 G American Collegiate Academy) was a sniper from behind the 3 point line. She scored well in transition and drove it strong to the basket when she found an opening. Michel also did a good job of rebounding on a team that had some solid bigs.
