A 5’5 guard, Vazquez is a playmaker who helps create offense for her team and works hard at the defensive end of the floor. She brings a big motor to the floor and is known for her hustle and intensity. As a sophomore, Vazquez helped Piper finish the 2018-19 season 23-1 and advance all the way to the Class 4A state championship game where they eventually fell to Bishop Miege. Vazquez averaged 6.9 points and 3.9 assists per game for the season.
I would describe my game as creating for my teammates and working hard on the defensive end. I hustle and make plays for team and play with the flow of the game.
“I felt I did my part when I needed to, I always hustled and made plays for the team,” she says. “This year I will contribute more on the scoring side on top of everything I’ve done in the past years. This year my ppg. was 6.9. I averaged 3.9 assists per game.
Vazquez spent the offseason playing for KC Dream 2021, which recently joined with Della Lamb.
“Summer ball was really good, it opened my eyes to a lot of things and it made me realize what I need to work on to improve my game,” Vazquez said. “I have been working on different finishes, getting my shot more efficient, and getting stronger.”
She says she enjoys watching college basketball and especially watches other point guards, looking for various ways to improve her own game.
“I enjoy watching college basketball because it’s nice to see how much people improve and see where I could possibly be in the future,” she said. “I try and look at the point guards and try to understand why they do certain things and implement it into my game.”
Vazquez does not yet hold an offer, but has heard from several college programs, including Wichita State, Indiana State, Northwest Missouri State and Cornell.
