A self-described team-first player, Babcock is a 5’6 combo guard who is coming off a strong sophomore season that saw her average 11.7 points per game as Chanute won the SEK title and went on a nine-game winning streak that ended at sub-state against Piper.
She says one of her highlights last season was nailing seven 3-pointers in a win against rival Labette.
“The season went really well I played better than my freshmen year,” she says.
Babcock says the experience of playing summer ball helped prepare her for the upcoming season
“I got to see better competition than high school basketball and that helped me because it made me become a better leader and ball handler,” she says. “I have been working on my ball handling and my shooting to be more consistent.”
A fan of Skyler Diggins, Babcock says her parents have had the biggest influence on her basketball career to date.
“My parents because have pushed me to do my best everyday,” she says. “I watch Diggins play and watched her pre-game warm-up and her shooting shows me how women’s basketball at a high level is played.”
Babcock, who also plays tennis and softball, has drawn interest from NCCC and Benedictine for basketball.
