This event was invitation only for classes 2022, 2023, and 2024. There were college coaches that led each of the four teams that consisted of ten players which put this whole event at forty total girls. Harry Elifson from Preferred Athlete Scouting Services (PASS) provided a detailed professional evaluation for every single girl at this event during their games. When they weren’t playing, they were in training sessions with Shawn Faust of iHandle Basketball. There were also evaluators and scouts that were local as well as national such as Andy Potts, Mike Terry, and Jeff Turner. With all of that in mind, the event ran very smooth and was super organized. It was a terrific event that is fantastic exposure for girls who are beginning their high school careers. Here is a look at some of the top incoming Freshman who attended:
Kailani Lindsey (6-0 PF Wildwood HS) has massive potential in the class of ’23. She is so strong around the hoop and has tremendous touch. Kailani is a viscous shot blocker who doesn’t let much get inside of her house. She has nice footwork and post moves in the paint, but her vision and ball handling as a 6 footer was the most surprising part of her skillset.
Olivia “Liv” Fuller (5-9 F Clearwater HS) showed off some serious hops this weekend. She was consistently a foot or two above everyone, including taller players, for rebounds. Liv runs the floor so well with her long frame. Her ability to drive, see the court, and finish strong is going to make her a hard guard for any team as she’s a matchup nightmare who will outwork anyone.
Kiaraly Cabrera (5-5 PG Barron Collier HS) was one of the most impressive guards on the court during this event. She is so smooth with the ball and sees the court even when she’s throwing a no-look pass. Kiaraly used her craftiness to hit floaters and finish shots around the rim, but she will knock down the 3-ball right over top of you if you give her any space.
Ava Stoller (5-5 PG St Petersburg HS) was a pest to all of her opponents at The Workout by using her athleticism. She hustled and dove throughout the whole day. On offense, she’s got a quick first step to the hoop and has nice touch when she takes a floater or anything else from mid-range. Ava could shoot outside too, and her motor never seemed to lose any fuel making her so much fun to watch.
Ace Sturdivant (5-10 CG Clearwater HS) is a floor general, a big guard, or what some would consider a point forward. She’s not a traditional baller in any capacity as she ran the floor and dished the rock with incredible court vision. Ace hit some big shots from all over and got to the hoop using her size/frame which helped her grab some boards too.
Maggie Lauber (5-4 PG Durant HS) had really nice fundamentals and knew the game very well. As of now, she’s a pass first player who sees the court very effectively. Maggie was smooth with the ball, and I think she has a lot of potential if she can get stronger and become more vocal.
Anaya Brown (5-6 G Colonial HS) got up and down the floor well during the event. She made some nice passes that made her teammates look good as she saw the court excellently. Anaya drove to the hoop by using her quickness which helped create for everyone including herself.
Madelyn Leslie (5-10 SG Gulf Coast HS) is a lethal shooter who can score at all three levels. She’s got nice size for a guard, and she used that to her advantage when finishing around the rim. Madelyn has a high basketball IQ, plays hard at both ends, and should develop into a star over the course of her HS career.
Maia Lewers (5-4 PG Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate HS) was very quick and got to the hoop easily with that speed and some additional crafty moves. She defended opposing guards by using her high motor to keep up the tempo. Maia will be a welcome addition to her team’s guards for the upcoming season.
Honorable Mention for the stacked 2023 class:
Halle Sanders (5-8 SG Santa Fe Catholic) – solid shooter
Arianna Mosely (5-8 G Tampa Prep) – drove the ball and shot well
