Today, a look at some of the key 2023 players from the northern Dayton area. These are freshman who expect to make an impact this season.
Northern Freshman Stars
Lexee Brewer (Sidney)
Her game has gotten better since I saw her over the summer, as she continues to polish her game to be an impact player in the Dayton area. She is one of two Sidney freshman who could provide a lot of leadership this season. Lexee is a guard who does a good job defensively, on and off-ball. Moves well and has active hands which she hopes will help cause turnovers which could lead to points for the Yellow Jackets. Can score from the perimeter, and will compliment her fellow classmate Allie Stockton.
Allie Stockton (Sidney)
The other half of the freshman dynamic duo with the Jackets. Strong physical player who can score both at the rim, or has the ability to score from the perimeter. Continues to be a major factor every day in practice, and I expect her to be one of the best, if not the best freshman in the Miami Valley League this season.
Allison Kinney (Indian Lake)
Like Stockton, I look for her to be the most heralded freshman in her conference, the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division. Smooth player on the floor, Kinney (pictured above) is multi dimensional and excels with the ball. Can score inside or out, and will be a force leading her team near the top of the division standings. Good footwork and can finish at the rim.
Riley Rismiller (Coldwater)
A 6-foot-2 post player who had a good summer, and continues to improve her game. Getting attention from some D1 schools, and has a great touch around the basket. Moves very well and continuing to grow her game. Not sure the immediate impact, but she will be one worth watching this season for the Cavs.
