It looks like they have a good shot to continue that streak within the conference. The league seems to have a lot of youth amongst the teams and how the league shakes out this season will depend which underclassmen step up for their teams.

Vinton County (22-2/12-0) TVC Ohio Champs/Sectional Champs/District Runner Ups
Head Coacb Rod Bentley
Players to Watch: 2021’s Morgan Bentley, Myriah Davis, 2022 Tegan Bartoe and Emily Zinn
Vinton County is gearing up for another run in the TVC Ohio and a deeper tournament run this year, and after seeing them last night at a scrimmage, looks like they are in full attack mode. Coach Bentley says “The team is good everyone is back and healthy” and they once again “have a group of skilled players” to work to get even further this year.
Alexander (23-3/10-2) Sectional Champs/District Champs
Head Coach Jeff Grinstead
Players to Watch: 2021 Jadyn Mace, 2022 Marlee Grinstead, Kara Meeks
Alexander made a run to the Regional Semi Finals last year, and this year will be a little tougher after losing 2 valuable and experience seniors Rachael Richardson and Makenna Rice. However they still have a good young Trio to build around, Marlee Grinstead is one of the top PG’s and Kara Meeks had a nice summer. Jadyn Mace plays at high speed and a tough player. Coach Grinstead feels his “kids are working hard to get where we want to be by our first game in two weeks. Oue numbers are down like several other programs but our goals are still high.”
Meigs (16-8)Sectional Champs
Head Coach Heath Hudson
Players to Watch: 2022 Mallory Hawley and 2023 Riley Lyle
Meigs graduated 8 of 10 varsity players last year, but as Head Coach Hudson states “we are looking forward to the challenge for this season.” He will be expecting strong play from Mallory Hawley and incoming freshmen 6’ Riley Lyle who will play both the 4-5 positions.
Nelsonville York (14-11/7-5) Sectional Champs
Head Coach Bobby Cassady
Players to Watch: 2022 Mackenzie Hurd
Nelsonville will look to build on last years win total as Coach Cassady talked about his team, “We return a lot, but lost a very big piece from last years team. I return 4 starters and 6th man. Looking for some freshman to step up for help of bench.” Mackenzie Hurd, who is coming off a very good summer will be leading the way for them.
Wellston (12-11)
Head Coach Scott Sturgill
Player to Watch: 2020 Lexi Bouska
Coach Sturgill describes his team as “extremely inexperienced team, we will rely on our defense and be creative with our schemes defensively” Wellston will have to come to play hard every night to expand on last years 12 wins.
Athens (8-15)
Head Coach Seth Matheny
Players to Watch: 2020’s Laura Manderick, Emmy Jean-Francois, Harper Bennett, Kesi Federsiel and 2023 Maggie Schlicher
Athens graduated a lot from last years team, but do return 3 seniors that will contribute a lot. 2020 Laura Manderick is a legit scorer with nice size. Coach Matheny says they “only have 3 upperclassmen on the roster, so overall pretty young.” And that he feels his seasond depends “will ultimately depend on what type of contributions we’ll get from those underclassmen.”
River Valley (6-18)
Head Coach Steve Roderick
Players to watch 2020 Peyton Crabtree and 2021 Hannah Jacks
River Valley will be looking to change things up this year, with Senior Peyton Crabtree and Junior Hannah Jacks leading the way. Coach Roderick thinks the team “will be very competitive and look to give teams what they don’t expect” and they “plan to give them all they want every time we get between the lines and see who will win”
