Redondo Union 45, Bishop Montgomery 34
Bishop Montgomery and Redondo Union squared off in this match up and it was an exciting game for our staff, in terms of the talent that was on display and the intensity the kids had on the floor. Bishop Montgomery was the elder in this game, they carried most of the experience on the floor and it was very evident after the 1st quarter of play. They dominated in the post and terrorized Redondos young guards on the perimeter, leading to a lop-sided final score that favored Bishop Montgomery. Check out the players we think were stand outs in the game we witnessed this morning.
Bishop Montgomery HS Top Performers:
2020, 5’10, CG, Cyan Dyke – She is a tenacious an scrappy guard on the floor for BM, she is the leader, this is very apparent as you watch them play on the floor. She can finish at the rim, which she attacks with vengeance, she is tough around the basket, almost bully-like, which this writer is very fond of as a basketball trait skill. She shot the midrange with confidence and also knocked down a three we believe, her defensive game is good, she keeps her defender in front and applies the much needed pressure to make her opponent get rid of the ball.
2023, 5’10, SF, Kyori Floyd – She has a nice college ready frame for her age, she is somewhat athletic, runs the floor well and has hands to catch and finish around the rim. She rebounds well that we saw and she is a tenacious on ball defender as we witnessed her play. These young Bishop Montgomery players will be special to watch as they grow into their skill sets and game. We look forward to watching Kyori develop in the years to become.
Redondo Union HS Top Performers:
2020, 5’4, PG, Alyssa Munn – Alyssa is really crafty and a very good point guard in our opinion, she shoots the ball very well from the 3 point stripe and is not afraid to take the ball to the rim for a nice layup or floater. She has good footwork and an immaculate skill set, she scores from all three levels on the floor and know how to find her teammates for easy assist for buckets. She gave it her all in the tournament and put her team on her back in each game we watched her play. Congratulations to her also for signing with The Academy of the Arts up North. Well -deserved.
