Miyah Dubose, Guard, Champlin Park (2020)
Dubose is one of the fastest guards I’ve had the opportunity to watch play this year outside of Charita Lewis of St. Cloud Cathedral. She had a knack for playing aggressively on defense with a chip on her shoulder. She really nailed it in my team points category (blocks, steals, assists) as she was the best player on the floor in that department.
Desiree Ware, Guard, Minnetonka (2022)
Ware really impressed me with her physicality level. You don’t typically get a top rebounder from your 5’6 guard but she was that player for the Skippers yesterday. She’s one of the young players on Minnetonka with tons of potential that we look to see getting better and better as the years go by in the class of 2022.
Izzy Quick, Forward, Champlin Park (2020)
Quick gets my game MVP for the Rebels especially for her motor of play in the 2nd half. In that team points category I mentioned earlier, she was 2nd behind Dubose overall between both squads yesterday. Quick plays with a chip on her shoulder that’s a strong rebounder that’s not afraid to fight for the loose ball or dive after one. Quick is also a good scorer from mid-range as well.
Sophie Haydon, Forward, Minnetonka (2021)
Haydon is one of two of the “Tonka Towers” as I coined that nickname yesterday at Park Center. Haydon impressed me with her low post presence and her ability to get fouled and knock down key free throws when it mattered most for the Skippers. At 6’3, Haydon is going to be one to watch in the class of 2021 as far as forwards.
Emma Dasovich, Forward, Minnetonka (2024)
Tonka Tower #2 is Emma Dasovich. Dasovich is a player we’ve recently learned about at Prep Girls Hoops and are stoked to see how much potential she has as just an 8th grader. Watching her the floor you never get the sense that she’s as young as she carries herself so well on the floor. Her ability to be a low post phenom and have a knack for a mid-range shot makes her a dangerous combo in the class of 2024. The only improvement I would say she can make is her physicality when getting rebounds, as that would make her the ideal forward for any program.
Champlin Park (3-6) will get a little break and play on the road at Anoka on January 7th at 7:00 PM.
Minnetonka (7-3) will have some traveling to do, as they will head up north to play the Moorhead Spuds on January 3rd at 6:00 PM.
