Teams are starting to show their true identity and so are these players who are off to incredible starts. Here are the top performers in the junior class early on in the season.
Olivia Miles | Blair
This is a list that has to start with Miles. ESPN has her ranked as the No. 1 point guard in the nation in the Class of 2021 and the No. 2 overall recruit. For Blair, Miles is averaging just over 14 points per game and has been the complete package. She is a player who can run the floor well and handle an uptempo game. She is also a one-on-one creator in the half court. Miles will be a force for the rest of her high school career and well beyond.
Destiny Adams | Manchester
Manchester has a chance to win yet another state title this season led by Adams. She is ranked No. 33 in the Class of 2021 according to ESPN. And she is showing why this season. Adams is averaging 20.2 points and 12.7 rebounds per game this season while leading Manchester to an 8-1 start. Her best game of the season is up for debate. It could be the season opener where he finished with 25 points, 20 rebounds, and seven blocks. It could also be her 31 point, 16 rebound, four steal performance against Red Bank. Can’t go wrong either way.
Caileigh Walsh | Gill St. Bernard’s
Walsh is a walking double-double. She has six of them in just eight games this season. Walsh is one rebound and one point away from being eight-for-eight to begin the season. She is averaging 16.4 points and 12.3 rebounds per game to lead Gill st. Bernard’s. In a win over Hunterdon Central, Walsh had one of the best statistical games of the entire season. She finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 blocks.
Collen McQuillen | Cresskill
Arguably the best scorer in the state this season. Actually, it may not be an argument when looking at the numbers. McQuillen is on pace to lead New Jersey in scoring this season. She is averaging 26 points per game this season through nine games. She has scored 30 or more points four times this season including a season-high 37 in the second game of the season.
Christian Dalce | Rutgers Prep
Dalce has notched a double-double in her last three games and four of the last five. She has scored 10 or more points in every game this season including a 26 point, 14 rebound, four block performance against Hudson Catholic. Rutgers Prep is off to a 7-2 start and show no signs of slowing down led by their very talented junior.
Dom Darius | Blair
Blair has one of the best teams in New Jersey and that does not look like it is going to change with the talent they have in the Class of 2021. Darius is yet another player ranked in the ESPN Top 60 of 2021. She is No. 35 on the list and rightfully so. She has been scoring at a high rate this season. Darius has been getting it done form everywhere on the floor. She scored a season-high 30 points in a win over Lincoln Prep (Canada). She knocked down 11 free throws in a game against Neumann Goretti (PA) and has four games where she hit three shots from behind the arc.
