This is exciting when looking to the future but we cannot waste their excellence in the present. Here are the top performers in the Class of 2022 early in the season.
Saniah Caldwell | Saddle Day River
A player that can truly fill the state sheet in every way. Caldwell has been putting up crazy numbers so far this season. She is averaging 21.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 6.4 steals per game. Caldwell has posted five double-doubles this season. Of the five, three have been with points and rebounds. The other two have been points and steals followed by points and assists. She opened the season with 22 points, 10 assists, and eight steals in a win. Long story short, Caldwell is a player that is going to give opponents fits on both sides of the ball for a long time.
Alana Robinson | Pope John
Robinson is averaging 17.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game this season. She has notched six double-doubles this season. Robinson finished with a triple-double in a win over Parsippany Hills with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals. In an opening game win over Sparta, Robinson led the way with 20 points and 17 rebounds. She has five games this season with six or more free throws. Robinson is a do-it-all type of player for Pope John. At the end of the season, her total numbers are going to be extremely eye-opening.
Kiley Capstraw | West Orange
Capstraw is scoring 24.4 points per game this season. She has delivered 23 or more points in her last five games including a 36 point performance last time out against Newark Tech. Capstraw has five double-doubles on the season and is also an excellent passer. In a win over Bloomfield, Capstraw was three assists away from a triple-double with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.
Madison St. Rose | St. John Vianney
St. Rose has been one of the top players in New Jersey this season and has led St. John Vianney to an 8-0 start. She is averaging 16.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game to begin the season. St. Rose has also been active on defense averaging four steals per game. St. Rose has scored in double-figures in all but one game this season. She has the ability to get by defenders on the perimeter and finish at the rim. St. Rose is a true point guard and will be one of the top players in the state for years to come.
Ally Carman | Red Bank Catholic
Red Bank Catholic is one of the best teams in New Jersey. They have two of the top five players in the Class of 2022 in Carman and Justine Pissott. Carman has been a true force down low to begin the season. At 6’5, Carman has the size to dominate on both sides of the ball. She scored a season-high 29 points in a blowout win over Raritan. Red Bank Catholic has the chance to make some real noise come playoff time and Carman will be a main reason why.
