There are plenty of teams that can contend for state championships and will be playing well into March. This is another leg of the series finding the top shooters in the state. Here are the top shooters in the GMC this season.
Madison Carey (2020) | Monroe
Carey has led Monroe to a 13-1 start this season. She is one of the top three-point shooters in the state and has been the best in the conference so far. She has knocked down 44 three-pointers this season. Carey has knocked down at least two shots from deep in all 14 games and has a season-high six three’s twice. She is having a senior season to remember, especially from beyond the arc.
Emma Boslet (2020) | St. Thomas Aquinas
Many players have played basketball at St. Thomas Aquinas, and Bishop Ahr, over the years. No boy or girls basketball player has scored more points than Boslet. She has scored in double-figures in every game this season and has been doing it from all over the court. Boslet has knocked down 34 three’s this season and has 41 points from the free throw line.
Kristen Yonker (2021) | Middlesex
Middlesex is the surprise team in the GMC this season and Yonker is a huge reason why. Middlesex has not lost in 12 games this season and Yonker has hit multiple three’s in nine of those wins. She has been a scoring machine from all over the floor but she has been elite from behind the three-point line this season. Middlesex is a team to watch moving forward in conference play.
Brooke Holland (2022) | Sayreville
Holland has shown inconsistency that sometimes comes with a younger player but she has still been a huge piece of Sayreville’s team. She knocked down a season-high six three-pointers in a win over Woodbridge. This was on her way to 30 points in the win. Holland will only get better as the season goes on and of course, the rest of her high school career.
Lauren Schmidt (2020) | South River
South River has won nine of their last 10 games. Schmidt is beginning to emerge as a scorer and this is doing a lot of good for South River. Schmidt is a threat from the three-point line and inside the painted area. She is a strong player who can finish with contact and get to the free throw line. She has scored from both lines a ton this season.
Tori Fisher (2021) | Piscataway
Fisher has scored in double-figures in six straight games. Piscataway has won their last five games on the back of their senior. During this five game win streak, Fisher has knocked down 10 three’s and is showing a more willing attitude towards taking three’s. Fisher will need to continue this hot streak if she wants to led her team down the stretch of the season.
