We are quickly moving through the state of New Jersey searching for the top shooters in every conference. Today, we will look at a few more but we begin with the HCIAL. This is a conference that features some of the top teams in the state including Hudson Catholic and Bayonne. They are two teams that can get it done from anywhere on the floor. One thing about the HCIAL is that every team features some strong shooters. Here are the top shooters in the HCIAL this season.
Erin Murphy (2020) | St. Dominic
St. Dominic has won six in a row. During that streak, Murphy has knocked down at least two shots from deep in every game. In her previous game against University Charter, Murphy nailed four three’s on her way to 14 points. This was two shy of her season-high of six which she accomplished in a December win over St. Mary’s (Ruth). Murphy will be a catalyst for St. Dominic down the stretch of the season.
Jada Phillips (2020) | Bayonne
Bayonne has been led by Makoye Diawara all season long. Phillips and her incredible shot from the outside cannot be forgotten. She is another big reason why Bayonne is 15-2 this season. She has hit 29 three’s this season including a season-high five in a close win over Gill St. Bernard’s. She has hit a three in every game this season and she will be a huge piece as Bayonne prepares for both county and conference tournaments.
Nia Scott (2020) | Marist
The winning streak for Marist has officially hit double-digits after a blowout win over Ferris on Tuesday. Scott has shot the ball well to balance the offense. Marist has plenty of scorers on the floor but Scott has been the most effective from deep this season. She set a season-high with back-to-back games with four three’s against St. Dominic and McNair.
Elainy Pichardo (2022) | Union City
Pichardo has done it all for Union City this season. She has seven games with five or more steals including a 10 steal game against Clifton. Pichardo has been an effective rebounder and passer from the point guard position. What Pichardo has also done is shot the ball effectively. She has knocked down a three in all but two games this season for Union City. She has scored double-figures in five of the last six games and there is no slowing down in sight.
Zanai Jones (2021) | Hudson Catholic
Hudson Catholic is neck-and-neck with Bayonne this season. They are currently 14-2 and have won their last four games. Jones has scored in double-figures in 15 of 16 games this season for Hudson Catholic including 22 points in each of her last two games. She has knocked down 20 three’s this season and leads her team from the foul line with 60 made. She has emerged as a star for one of the top teams in the conference.
