Where here is a short list of players that we believe are the tops in our book for the specific skill they showcase.
Here is my list for Los Angeles Area (5) Best Point Guards, Period……
2020, 5’8, PG, Vanessa De Jesus – Sierra Canyon HS
Showed she is a great point guard that can run a team and also get points for her team when needed. She always makes the right play and plays the game with multiple speeds of attack. Her pull up three ball is consistent and her drives to the rim are strong with finishes thru contact. She is also a willing defender that is able to contain her opponent from getting to the rim on her. Was very impressed with her game. (Committed to Duke)
2020, 5’10, PG, Tehina PaoPao – La Jolla Country Day HS
Showed she is the teams go-to-girls why it comes to being a scorer and leader on this team. Tehina is able to beat you off the dribble for tier-drops in the paint, step back and hit the midrange shot from anywhere on the court and also knock down the three ball with great consistency. TP is one of the toughest kids in the gym to guard, she is always in attack-mode. (Committed to Oregon)
2020, 5’9, PG, Kaitlyn Chen – Flintridge Prep HS
She is aggressive on the floor, always in attack mode, she has a very decent handle and can use both hands to attack her opponent, which makes her very dangerous with the ball in her hands. She is athletic, quick, crafty and a solid shooter from all three levels, she can get to the rim off the dribble, pull up on a dime and knock down the shot or hit you with the long three ball off the bounce or catch. (Committed to Princeton)
2020, 5’7, PG, Asia Avinger – Rosary Academy HS
Pushed the ball for her team this weekend as well, she showed her improved midrange game as well as her three point shot. She defended well and pretty much took control of the team and willed them to get some wins. Rosary is quite a team, they bombard you with three point shots and then press you on the other side of the floor and they try and speed you up to play at their pace. (Committed to San Diego State University)
2020, 5’5, PG, Alyssa Marin – Camarillo HS
Marin is a very strong combo guard. She made the transition to point guard this past season and seems to be handling it well. Good balance between a facilitator and being a scorer. Offensively, her strong suit is her slashing game and attacking off the dribble. She has some nice spin moves to sidestep her defender and a nice little floater at the rim. Can draw contact and get to the line. Good outside shooter. (Committed to UCSB)
