Pius XI Catholic is currently leading the Woodland- West conference in standings. With 6 conference wins and one close loss, Pius XI is the team to beat. Their squad is 10-3 on the season and is averaging nearly 60 points per game as a team. They play a high patience offense that is fueled by poise and structure. On the other end of the court, Pius XI is known for their gritty in-your-face defense that shuts down teams offensively. Let’s breakdown players to keep an eye on during Fridays matchup.
Jada Spence | Senior | C
At 6’0 Jada Spence has the rare combination of size and speed that makes her very successful offensively. She leads her team averaging 14.2 points per game and dropped 26 points in their recent win against Pewaukee. She is such a dominant force on offense and uses her body well to get passed defenders. In addition to her incredible post play, Spence is able to step outside and shoot the jumper as well. Spence is committed to Tennessee State University.
Mya Moore | Sophomore | C
Another player with size is May Moore, who stands at 6’1. Moore is averaging 10.6 points per game for Pius XI and has stepped up big for her team this season. With a season-high 23 points, Moore has showed she can step up when it counts for her squad. She plays with a lot of experience and seems to have a very good eye for herself and open teammates. She also adds 7.5 rebounds per game. Moore could easily be the sleeper that steps up big-time on Friday.
Jasmine Kondrakiewicz | Senior | F
Currently averaging 10.3 points per game and a clear leader on the floor for Pius XI, Jasmine Kondrakiewicz will surely make an impact during Fridays matchup. Leading the conference, Kondrakiewicz is averaging nearly 12 rebounds per game. She is a beast on the offense boards and see’s most of her points off of put back baskets. Standing at 6’1 she uses her size to rise above and around defenders.A true post player, Kondrakiewicz shuts down a lot of offenses with her defense inside the paint. She is committed to Green Bay.
Jaida Smith | Junior | G
The 5’7 floor general for Pius XI- Smith does it all for her team. She runs the offense so well and has incredibly handles. With a quick first step and efficient outside shot, Smith can take over a game any given night. Averaging 10.5 points per game, Smith is a true facilitator that knows when to pass the ball and when to attack the rim.
New Berlin Eisenhower is also 6-1 in the conference and is following right under Pius XI fighting for the number one spot. The team is averaging 59 points per game as a team and uses their efficient shooting percentage to be successful. In non conference play, New Berlin Eisenhower is 9-5 as a team after an intense competitive schedule. The team plays with so much versatility that you can expect almost anything from them offensively and defensively. Lets breakdown the players to keep an eye on during the matchup.
Erin Hedman | Senior | F
Standing at 6’3, Hedman is one of the most versatile post players in the state. She plays with an immense amount of poise and patience that finds her easy buckets inside. She averages 8.4 rebounds per game with 15 boards on two different occasions this season. Hedman is a clear athlete who can run the floor so well with all of her teammates. She is quick on defense and finds herself with multiple blocks each night. Averaging 14 points per game for New Berlin Eisenhower, Hedman is the leading scorer for her team. She is committed to Minnesota.
Nikki Dienberg | Junior | G
Running the point guard position for her team is 5’7 guard Dienburg. She excels at driving passed her defenders to finish with flare inside at the rim. She is averaging 11.8 points per game for her team and is super versatile on offense. She has 21 points in a close win over rival New Berlin West. Most of her easy buckets come from her ability to get passed defenders on the dribble. She can also step outside and hit a shot beyond the arch.
Brynn Fuerstenberg | Sophomore | F/G
Averaging 10.5 points 5.5 rebounds per game, Fuerstenberg adds a lot of value to her New Berlin Eisenhower squad. She plays well off of Hedman and at 5’10 can hold her own inside the paint as well. She dropped 20 points against a top Germantown squad and 18 against Brown Deer. With a lot of pressure defensively on her other post player, Fuerstenberg has the ability to step up huge for her team.
