But that’s not the case and the Eagles actually figure to be more of a postseason roadblock and a springboard. One reason for this is senior Emily Doolittle, a diamond in the rough who will likely end up a solid pickup for whatever college program that chooses to bring her on board.
“I know that she will be successful at any level she chooses,” Eagles head coach Rachel Caliga said. “She’s typically our leading scorer and she’s typically our spark when we have a down time. She’s the one who comes over and talks to me when we need to figure out what’s going on from a captain’s standpoint.”
Doolittle has drawn some Division-III interest including local programs like UCCS and Colorado Christian, according to Caliga. Despite battling illness in the early going of the New Year, the 5-foot-9 senior is averaging just over 13 points, 1.2 assists and 1.1 rebounds per game.
Doolittle is a fantastic shooter, averaging 37 percent (22 for 59) from behind the 3-point arc. She shoots 36 percent from the field and can flash through the middle and score in the paint when she wants to.
Also an excellent student, Doolittle is currently carrying a 4.2 GPA. She played club ball last season for Hardwood Elite.
